My best friend's boyfriend ordered this cake for her for her birthday. She wanted the actual purse, but he said it was too expensive, so had a cake made to look like it. She loved it. Cake was marble with buttercream, and MMF accents.

This is a mint chocolate chip cake (yummy!) with MMF. I painted the designs on with icing colour, diluted with mint extract. Thanks to briansbaker for posting the instructions on CC!

I have two handbag cakes to make in the next two months, so did this as a practice. I carved a very fresh cake so this wasn’t the shape I wanted, will have to try the freezing thing…. Fondant & gumpaste, painted with lustre dust.

Made this for my sister's boss' birthday. it's fondant with thinned pink RI stencilled "C's". Great story for this.i had covered it in the fondant and then went out for a bit, when i came home, there was a big bite taken out of the corner! i was accusing all 4 children.all of which said they didnt do it and i was ready to ground ALL of them.then i looked very closely at the cake..FOOTPRINTS! Squirrel ones! a squirrel had come in through the side of the A/C, ate my cake, and ran away!! i tossed it. :)

This was only my 3rd attempt, but this one was needed in quick turn- around time, so I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to perfect the details.

I made this the other night. First time working with pre-made chocolate fondant and I really didn’t like it. Found it quite hard to work with. Shame as it actually tasted quite nice! Sorry about the bad picture.

After wanting to make a birthday cake that suited my girlfriend I took inspiration from this site and read a lot of the guides. Couldn't take the time over it I would have liked to but seeing what has been created on this site really made me want to have a go.

These are my first-timers done for my great-neice's 15th birthday. Handbag is covered in MMF. The gift package is ivory (camera makes it look yellow) with gumpaste bow. The handbag, bow and letters are airbrushed with Bronze Luster Dust. The bag is not what I envisioned so I had to improvise with a plain one. Thanks Nati for your help.

I made this for my mom's birthday. She loves shoes and purses, and she's a shopaholic. The purse is a butter cake with chocolate buttercream dream icing with pre-made gumpaste blossoms with dragees centers. The handle is ribbon. The shoe is made from candy clay. The blossoms are pre-made gumpaste with dragees centers. The credit card was made with candy melts. This was my first time using candy melts, candy clay, and molding figures. I'm fairly pleased with my first attempt.

This is DH Devil's Food with the Extender recipe added plus 1/4 cup of Dutch Processed Cocoa. All buttercream frosting with a ribbon bow. I was trying to make it look reminicient of a Vera Bradley purse for a friend's birthday. I think that it just turned out way too busy. I'm worried that she won't like it. But, it was fun to make anyway!

This was my first attempt at a purse cake. It is a raspberry cream cake with raspberry whipped cream filling, vanilla frosting, and covered in fondant. The flowers are also made of fondant.

These are MMF covered sugar cookies. I hosted a baby shower for my friend who is a purse lover so I made these as favors and made a diaper bag cake... these were all fun to make!

I've wanted to try making a purse cake for the longest time and I finally got my chance! I threw a baby shower for my friend who happens to love Coach! I made a regular sheet cake and just carved it, iced it with buttercream and topped with MMF. Everything is edible. I wish it looked a bit more even but it was definitely a lot of fun to make!

This cake was made from an 8 inch round, with the top and bottom cut off to form the purse. Covered in fondant and adorned with embossed accents to mimic real leather. The gumpaste handle and fondant button latch complete the look.

My second one...I think its improved from my first although I think I might prefer if the straps were down...can't figure out how to attach them that way, though. This way at least I can use skewers.

Thank you to all of you who helped and directed me for this purse. I felt like my first purse was such a failure (Fashionista in gallery). With everyone's help tho, I tackled another one and I love how it turned out. Thank you all again so much, I love ya'll! :-) I've had many pm and ask if this is all fondant. It's buttercream, the brown and silver accents are fondant.

I was so excited I finally got to make one of these. I used edible images for the pattern. The cellphone and lipstick are made from molding chocolate. Thanks for all the inspiration on this site.

Tried this purse cake with a pearl border instead of lace. I liked this look too, next time I try the pearl border in black.

I made this completely out of my head. I did not have a picture to go by.
I will include some of my earlier attempts and put a year by them and you can see for yourselves how much practice makes perfect. I know I have a long way to go but that is half of the fun with cake decorating. Every time you make
a cake you learn something new. Also sites like this one really help, and
I am not grovelling, it's true!
