This is the third cake i have made. It's Jack Skellington and I made it for my wifes birthday tomorrow. the base is 2 layer 12 x 14 chocolate that was originally going to be a tombstone, but I never cut due to how much cake would be wasted. His body is 4 layer 4 x 8. His neck is actually a Scott towel roll wrapped in Saran Wrap, buttercream and then fondant. For a head I used the Wilton ball pans. Base is buttercream, everything else is fondant with icing details. I custom made the stand to support his body

I got this idea from a Debbie Brown book. Its a scratch chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. Everything including the headstones and crosses is fondant, except for the grass which is buttercream...The graves and dirt are chocolate. The graves were my own idea.I had fun making it.
It was a chllenge because it kept falling over. The cake was too soft.
Once I had the fondant on it,it stayed up.

Thanks to sue_dye for the inspiration for this one. I entered this into our local fair today. Three 8 inch layers with shaved 6 inch layer as lid. Royal flowers, indian corn and cattails. MMF ghost with food writers used for eyes. First time I actually made the "daisies" (brown eyed susies) the right way. I had to dowl the lid but since I had to have it "All Edible," I used a candy stick! I hope it holds it, it has to last a week on display! I wanted to use the Jack-o face but I thought it would be too much

I ran out of time and ended up rushing the whole decoration process for this cake. The birthday boy, my cousin, couldn't have been any more pleased so I guess it was fine. The pretzles that I used for a fence was more hastle than it was worth. Everythnig is edible except the scooby and shaggy.

The inspiration for this was a Candle holder. It's classy but at the same time evokes the spirit of halloween. :-)

White Chocolate and Chocolate cake alternating with white chocolate mousse filling. This was a practice cake to try my new Magic Line square pans (love them!) and also to try the Whipped Cream Buttercream recipe from this site - definitely a not so sweet buttercream had a bit of difficulty with smoothing but got there with a hot knife...

I don't know where to put this - birthday cakes, or Halloween cakes. This is a cake for my friend. We all LOVE Halloween, and do our own haunted house every year. He turned 22 yesterday, and this was my gift to him. Choc. cake w/ white choc cream cheese filling, buttercream icing. All bats, ghosts, skull, and tombstone are made from Tootsie Rolls. Hope he likes it!

This is modified from one in Wilton's 2006 Yearbook. It's chocolate cake with chocolate frosting (a recipe from the Betty Crocker cookbook). I used the soccer ball pan for the body and formed the head with icing and the "hump" I cut off of the cake. The eyes are made with M&M's.
