These cakes were for a couple who are civil war re-enactors and they dressed in period costumes for the wedding. They wanted a 3 tiered round with a gray, blue, and gray tier with crossed swords and rifles. The sheet cakes are 11x15 with the confederate flag, and edible images of a couple of their re-enactments. The heart cake was done just so they had something on the romantic side! This was my first wedding and I learned alot, the gray came out much darker than I wanted and it's hard to see the crossed rifles on those tiers. But the couple loved it and the men whose pictures were on the edible images thought it was neat to have their picture on a cake!

I made this cake to match the shower invite. I am not a fan of sheet cakes but it is what the client wanted! White cake with strawberry filling and buttercream icing.

I made a bunch of these for a raffle at a Scottich Highland games! NFSC with glace icing! The logo on the shirt is the same logo on the t-shirts the athletes will be wearing during competition. Thanks to aine2 for her tutorial on making plaid! I modified it a bit, but she made it look so easy, I had to try!

Three tier cake (technically four if you count the long on in the center). Center tier is covered with sanding sugar, bottom is decorated with silver gray lace work in royal icing. The top tier is a floating tier and is covered in hand made sugar flowers, leaves and a shimmering white peacock.

With the unusual color scheme, I wasn't sure how this one would turn out. The bride-to-be liked the paisley design she had seen on another cake. It turned out a little better than I thought it might. First time using Tappits. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the letters, gray paisleys and lighter gray stripes were painted lightly with silver dust. Flowers are gumpaste - everything else is fondant.

This is a Hippo cake I made for my friend Sally. Chocolate cake with butter cream frosting, covered in fondant. I should have used Oreo cookies for the legs, they would have been easier to frost and cover.

Here's the birthday cake I worked on today. The birthday girl's sister was planning a movie themed party for her 32nd birthday.
I showed her a few cakes for ideas and this is the style she picked. You can see the inspiration cake here:

Not as well done as the original, but still happy with how it turned out. Film reels ended up being too big, but didn't discover that until after I had frosted them and started assembly.
I sure hope the birthday girl (and her sister) like it!

Robbie's body is 3 - 8" single layers with various fillings. His head is 2 - 6" layers. His legs and arms and hat are rice krispie treats. Hat is painted with black food coloring. He is iced in all gray buttercream then sprayed with black cake spray. A true labor of love and many "lessons learned" here. He has many dowels holding him all together!! The groom and his father actually picked him up and delivered him to the wedding - hope he made it ok!! TFL

The groom designed this cake himself! I was so impressed with his drawing and did my best to create exactly what he'd drawn. I love how he used different cake shapes and heights and even incorporated his bride's favorite lillies. BC with GP lillies.

My sister calls me up this Tuesday and says "how quickly can you make me a cake" I say "depends on what kind of cake you want." She then proceeds to tell me that she and a close friend were drinking on night and this friend told my sister that all she wanted for her birthday was a armadillo cake like from Steel Magnolias and that was what my sister wanted to do for her. Not wanting dissapoint my sister or pass up the opportunity to make a potentially awesome cake I said yes and off to the store I went.
It is a red velvet cake (of course) sculpted and covered with cream cheese icing then gray fondant that I had hand texturized with a small circle cutter and the bone tool. I dont have and air brush machine or I would have sprayed him for more dimention in the grooves. The client LOVED the cake and named it Dug cause its cuteness reminded her of the dog from th movie Up.

I got the Cricut Cake and I just HAD to use it immediately. So, normally I would do a fondant cake, but I make my own fondant and I didn't have the patience to wait. So buttercream it was. I did grat buttercream with purple and dark gray gumpaste cutouts using the Cricut Cake Elegant Cakes cartridge. I rolled the gumpaste out on the sheets and put them in the freezer for 20ish minutes and it cut like butter. So lovely! I can't wait to use it on something fancy!

My very first wedding cake, and this is actually a practice cake. Even though I have alot of cake on my hands, I am glad I decided to do this before my first actual order for a wedding cake in October. I learned alot of valuable lessons, and after a few mishaps, I now know what NOT to do! Thanks for looking, will appreciate any constructive criticism or advice that you can give me! I have only been doing this for 4 months! :)

This cake was for my southern husbands 25th birthday, The crawfish and corn were made from mm fondant, and the water is buttercream. I used 3, 9 inch rounds, it was just for the family so I didn't make it too big. I used my husbands favorite vanilla frosting and quickly found out it doesn't work well under fondant, My fondant started sliding all over the cake :( It was so much fun to make and my husband was completely suprised!
