Had a heck of a time trying to decide how to decorate a german chocolate cake. Decided on the horse theme since the birthday girl (23) will be going horseback riding for her birthday. This was the first time I ever made the coconut-pecan filling from scratch and boy is it YUMMY!

This is the groom's cake to go with the yellow wedding cake. It's a 1/4 sheet german chocolate cake with german chocolate icing, scrollwork, and chocolate dipped strawberries. TFL...
Oh yeah, thanks to whoever had the tutorial showing how to get straight corners with a bench knife. I tried it for the first time on this cake and it worked wonderfully. These are the first straight corners I've ever had on a cake.

I made this cake for my husbands Birthday. We have a 1 year old black German Shepherd who is my husbands best friend! I made this cake to look like our wonderful dog, Guinness. It took me so long to make and was a bit rushed at the end before his party. When we were blowing out the candles, my mother-in-law asked 'why didn't you give the dog a tail?' I was so rushed I forgot the tail!

This was a Birthday cake for a good friend's husband. Three tiers 4", 6", & 8". The top and bottom tiers where dark chocolate with german chocoloate filling and chocolater buttercream. The middle tier was lemon with lemon buttercream filling and frosting. The entire cake is covered with Blue and Gold MM, and everything is edible. This is only my second stacked cake, and it wasn't too bad I think. My friends loved it, but of course I see soo much room for improvement. Start down the road and keep going..always room for improvement..~~smile~~ Thanks for letting me share it!

I made this for my friends husband. He loved it. 12' German chocolate with a 6" cake cut into the shape of the sign placed infront of an eagle. I piped the eagle & sign then filled them in with BC. I got the Idea from several different Harley Davinson cakes. Thanks for all your ideas.

This cake was for a woman whose son was heading off to firefighting school. The building is iced in BC with MMF accents, the tree and fire engine are carved/sculpted RKT covered with MMF. Figures are MMF and decorations are MMF or BC. Cake- 8" 2 layers of choc wasc and 2 layers of yellow cake both filled with choc bc plus a layer of RKT to add height. The scale is a wee bit off, the firefighter would punch through the roof if he stood in the building! lol but I've decided to call that aspect whimsy... The dog is made to look like her son's, the joke being he can't put out the fire because his dog is sitting on it (thanks to a fellow CC'er for the idea on that- I remember seeing something like that but couldn't find the pic again) Sorry for the long winded description and thanks for looking!

Well, almost like a sombrero anyway. I used an 8" round for the 'brim' and a Pampered Chef small batter bowl for the top. Next time I would use a bigger brim or a smaller top to make the proportions a little better. German chocolate cake (the coconut pecan was between the torted layers) and buttercream decorations. Gordy was thrilled. :)
