This is my first try at making gelatin accents for cakes! I used plain gelatin for the butterflies and painted them with luster dust and gel colors. I used lime jello for the leaves and grass, with floral wire for the stems of the leaves. I made the white petunias of cream cheese fondant, and painted with luster dust. The cake is "Chocolate Covered Cherry" - chocolate cake with creamy maraschino cherry filling and chocolate cream cheese fondant! (Recipient's favorite colors, flowers and candy incorporated into cake design and flavor!)

This is the topper for a special cupcake I am making for a little girl's 4th birthday. The cupcake will be uploaded once it is done in a few days =) The rose is made from white modeling chocolate, brushed in luster dust (bad photo for capturing it) and the butterfly is made from gelatin. I didn't have the butterfly veining/texture sheets everyone has, so I downloaded a butterfly picture, cut it out, and used it as a cutting template for mine. It worked awesome, minus having the cute veins. I used a paintbrush with simple food colors, liquid and gel, to brush on the details. I had no problem with the colors melting the dried gelatin at all.

I made/ dried my gelatin butterflies on a flexible cutting board, it popped right off just like a texture sheet =)

I was asked to make these for a friend's two beautiful children. It was a Birthday and an Adoption Day celebration! There were 40 color matching cupcakes in all, but only these two were decorated like this. It was such a HUGE honor!

The cupcakes are a scratch recipe chocolate fudge cake, and the frostings are homemade semi-sweet ganache and whipped vanilla-almond buttercream.

Olivia's cupcake, the pink one, is decorated with a white chocolate rose, brushed with luster dust, and topped with a gelatin butterfly, the body of the butterfly including the antennae in their entirety is dark chocolate plastic. The pearls are made from white chocolate as well, rolled in pearl dust. Her name is rolled out of a fondant rope.

Evan's cupcake is covered in the semi-sweet ganache, with a special flag of his home Country, Guatemala. I was asked to make that the theme, celebrating his heritage! The "worry dolls" (little people) were inspired by a story his Momma told me about how they have these little dolls over there, you tell your worries to and place under your pillow to find peace. I tried to recreate those to the best of my ability, they are traditionally made with bits of string, fabric, and sticks inside for support. I used fondant for the flag, and a mix of fondant and modeling chocolate for the dolls. The bananas, a chief export, are both fondant and modeling chocolate as well.

The Faires, baby, babies blanke, babies pillow and flowers were all made of gum paste, the wings for the faires, butterflies, dragonflies and bees were made out of geletin. The bodies for the butterflies, dragonflies, bees and Ladybugs are gum paste also.

My first large wedding! 14" 12" 10" 8" 6" round ivory buttercream tiers. The bottom was Orange Blossom cake with Apricot/Pineapple filling. The 10" was Bridal Bliss cake with Strawberry Mousse filling. The top three tiers were Almond Delight with Vanilla Mousse Filling. Handmade turquoise & burnt orange gelatin butterflies (really fun to make) and tons of glitter! The flowers were fresh orchids and roses. I wish the cake was shown with the rest of the room...it was spectacular!

Made this cake for me "retirement' of selling my business and a meet and greet for the new owner. Chocolate amaretto cake (recipe found here as chocolate italian cream cake), filled with raspberry filling, and covered with ganache. This was my first ganache cake and also my first time using gelatin veining molds. I was very nervous about the gelatin, and thought it would never dry but they turned out beautiful! Wish I had more for the cake but I think it turned out very well. I am very proud of this cake and think this one looks really professional. I smudged one side of the cake, hope its not too noticiable! The ganache isn't as smooth as I would like it, it had bubbles, not sure how to fix that. And still figuring out the gold dusting, I should have dusted the fruit before putting it on but oh well, live and learn. Please contact me about any questions you may have and thanks again bobswonderbuns for the tutorial!

Inspired on an old pocket watch. The golden base is vanilla cake covered with sugarpaste, the cake decorations are made out of gumpaste. The top is a gelatin dessert simulating glass with an encased rose made with the 3D technique, all the rest of the pinwheels are also made of gelatin.

All the materials used to elaborate this cake are edible. This cake was made to please cake as well as gelatin lovers.

This is a wedding cake for a couple having their wedding at a zoo. They chose to have fairy resemble the bride. They wanted the fairy to be kissing the dragon and they wanted a red/maroon dragon because that is what matched their wedding colors and the bride's gown. The fairy is actually wearing the bride's gown.
The fairy is made of gumpaste with gelatin wings and the dragon is made of modeling chocolate with a rice crispy center.

This is a gelatin mold made with a recipe that has been in my family for years. I used a wilton cake pan. After unmolding, it is painted by hand using diluted gel colors. The square blocks were made with the same recipe but the color was added into the mix and molded in a 1/4 sheet pan then cut into squares.
