The football is two oval cakes carved to the shape and pegged in with wooden dowels. Used fondant for grass detail.

This one turned out fantastic! Both the field and cake were lemon cakes with imbc. The green and white are mmf and the brown is chocolate mmf. My son thought it was perfect! I used cookie cutters to cut out the letters in his name and the number 9. I liked this one so well I am planning on making one for each of the seniors on my husband's team at the end of the year. Just the football, not the field though.

Chocolate cake with BC icing. Ball is made of rice krispies treats covered in fondant. Dirt is crushed up graham crackers. This was definitely harder than I thought it would be. But it wasn't too bad.

This year, our school chose a sports theme, and our slogan is, "Every Play Counts". I came to CC to get ideas and took elements from cakes by luvtodecorate, sweetexpressions, and simplyM. Thanks for the great inspiration and ideas! I didn't think the sheet cake needed support, but I was wrong. The cake had the "bulgies" on the sides! But, my teacher friends all loved it, and it was a great treat for the day before school! All BC. Thanks for looking!

Cake for my husband. He only wanted yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I wanted a theme. I didn't have the football cake pan so I had to improvise. I used layered round cake shaped down a little to resemble a football. Football is on a large sheet cake frosted like a football field. This was a rush job.

French vanilla cake covered in buttercream. This was a last minute cake for my sons middle school Sunday School Class cookout. They were playing flag football and watching facing the giants. At the last minute the middlle school girls were invited so I added flowers to the field.

I used the "grass" tip for the field. Colored sugar red for the base line and powdered sugar for the white dust. For the front half I use a square pan cut in half and doubled onto itself. Same thing for the back only I used a circle pan.

My first groom's cake!!! Duplicated a cake that the bride saw in an advertisement. Cake is made from 2 layers of 11 X 15 and 2 layers of 9 x 13. Cake board was 22 x 22,- heavy and big in addition to a wedding cake! The stadium has been renovated, but bride insisted on this "old school" version of the stadium.

Yellow cake with chocolate icing for football (used Wilton 3-D football pan), colored regular buttercream icing for the rest. Used a paper towel to get texture on ball (thanks to CCers suggestions) Goal posts are lollipop sticks covered in yellow mmf. Used tip 2 to get grass into the really small spaces where tip 233 wouldn't fit so grass could come out over the letters.

This is a BC milk chocolate cake with BC icing. It was for an 80th B-day/Tailgate party. It also had 2 goal posts but I had them put them on just before the party so they wouldn't get broken by the box.

I've been wanting to make a football field cake so I was happy to do this for a friend. This is a white chocolate sour cream cake with buttercream frosting. Birthday boy's team is the Wranglers - and his colors are red, white, and navy blue. The whole process of this cake went great. I think it was the least mess I've ever made in the kitchen :-) I guess I'm getting better at this whole cake decorating thing. Thanks for looking!

This was for a man's birthday. He wanted a football field with the Bears on it. This was harder to do becuase the cake was so small...thus everything on it seems overscaled. Oh well. I think it turned out well overall.

1/2 sheet french vanilla football field with strawberry filling. Helmet carved of chocolate cake sports ball pan with chocolate icing covered in black fondant. Face guard had wire inside for stability. The football was carrot cake which I pressed little football texture like divots into the fondant. The best part is I got to make it for a party for a 40-something young man named Bob who has less than 1 month to live. He has brain cancer. I am honored to have given him joy! Happy Birthday! God Speed Bob!
