I copied this from HollyPJ. My daughter saw her cake months ago and just had to have one just like it. I tried to do some changes but my daughter didn't want me to change much. lol. It was much easier to do than expected but time consuming! The bed is yellow cake with chocolate ganache filling, covered with fondant and puppy is strawberry cake with lemon cream cheese filling and chocolate buttercream fur. Accents are done in fondant and royal icing.

The big tree is a dowel covered in rice krispies and MMF. the coons are supposed to b 'treeing' the dog and hunter - joke. TFL

I made this cake for my daughter's 11th birthday this weekend. The pillow was made following the tutorial for how to make a pillow cake on this site. However, I started with a two layer, 10" square cake. I didn't freeze the cake though, and it still carved just fine. Pillow was covered with rolled buttercream, which is my first time trying it. The puppy was made from cupcakes, and then all was stuck together using buttercream. Thanks to infields, as I worked from her Maltese cake for inspiration.

Thanks to the person here at CC for allowing me to use their idea. My friends have a little dog like this so I decided to make them one for a special occasion. Not sure if they will want to cut it, a bit like cutting into an edible image of a person.

This is my first carved cake. I tried to make it look like a boxer dog but it had its flaws. I learned a lot from this cake the next time I understand how to use the tiplets and using much better judgement. I was happy with the airbrushing for this is the first time for it to. Thanks for looking

This was for my son's 2nd birthday. It was my first carved cake. I wanted a cake that looked like the stuffed dog he carries everywhere and got this idea from Brenda_1 on the Wilton website. It is chocolate cake and I used the 233 tip all over. The nose ended up being a little longer than I wanted and I had a hard time getting the tail to stand up, but my son loved it!

This was done for a 6yr old's birthday party. Everything is edible except the dog tags & the colorful dog toy. Mom wanted those ribbons added to go with the theme of the party. The space was left open for Happy Birthday & her name.

This is from my step-father's b-day cake. He loves his dog, "Baby Girl", so my mom gave me a picture of her and I made a frozen buttercream transfer of her. He cried when he saw her on his cake!

Yellow hazelnut cake. Dog was chocolate cake, molded from mini wondermold pan. It was a total disaster - I was supposed to make a purse cake, and that fell apart, so this was my last minute replacement cake. I was not pleased with how it came out. I'd like to try again sometime when I have time to plan.

I made this for my husband's birthday. Our poodle's name is "Buttercream", so I thought it would be funny to "frost" the cake with the dog hehe. We dream of opening a bakery someday that we want to call "Rock Star Cakes", so thats why the gumpaste "order form" has that name :) The poodle, box etc. are made with gumpaste. He really liked it...which made me feel really good because he is a MUCH better cake decorator than I am. Check out his Pirates of the Caribbean sculpted skull on here...you'll see :)

This is a white cake with strawberry filing and buttercream icing. Everything is cake and buttercream except the dog bowls and the bone. The dog house is an Igloo type house but I am not real happy with it. Thanks to everybody who posted dog pictures in the gallery.

I was inspired by Texas Sugar to make this Scooby Doo cake. I don't own the wondermold pans like she used, so I cut from a 9 x 13 and the sports ball pan. White BC airbrushed brown, fondant tail, ears, spots and nose. The drum was an 18" round and for a minute I was thinking "Rut Ro" because I thought it may not all fit on the drum! Whew! Batter was white, but I tie dyed it the psychadelic colors of the "Mystery Machine" in the show.

Here is another "Blue Dog" cake based on a George Rodrique's design. This time, I did a Mardi Gras theme for a Fat Tuesday party we had at work. The dog is a chocolate transfer. I had to do him twice to get him to look the way I wanted. I also experimented with a diamond pattern on the side of the cake. I was quite pleased with the design and best yet . . . the cake tasted great! Chocolate burbon cake - yum!

My daughter designed this cake for me to do for her birthday. I think we make a good team! I've come a long way since last year (see my photo album). I modeled all of the figures out of fondant (I got wonderful ideas for these from the cc gallery). At the last minute I decided to do the "Happy Birthday Katherine" message in chocolate transfer. I've been experimenting with this method alot recently. This cake was loads of fun to make!
