This is my first attempt at a "Professional" looking cake. I used BC frosting for most of it and I used MMF for the road. I used crushed sugar cones (which came like that from Target-I was not happy) for the "mulch" around the trees to try and break up some of the green. The only thing I might do different next time is to make and decorate the cake in stages instead of starting at 4 P.M. the day before the party and getting done at 3 A.M. the morning of...

Did this for my great-nephew's 2nd b/d party yesterday, his theme was Disney's Cars. The #2 is cut from a 9x13 and stacked on an 11x15. I texturized the road using a non-skid mat. His mother brought the two Disney Cars that is placed on the cake. Got the #2 idea from Calejo.

I made this cake for my son's 3rd birthday. I learned so much from making this. I baked two 9x13 cakes, one yellow and one chocolate...for some reason I was just not pleased with the height of the cakes and when I cut them in half to add filling I almost had a disaster on my hands! I think next time I will do a cake extender to get more height. Everyone at the party raved and just couldn't believe that I had made it. :) Overall I am pretty proud of this cake.

This was one of my favorites and one of my longest..castles always seem to take forever. Thanks for looking.

Butter cake, white choc. truffle and raspberry fillings. Iced all in BC. Gumpaste crown, bow and name plate. Fondant flowers (everyone seems to want fondant ribbon roses lately). Dragees too. I made the crown using a playdough toy (that I use strictly for cakes). I wanted to put tassels on each corner as well, but when I was trying to finish up this cake (2 am) I broke my garlic press while trying to push gumpaste through it. Princesses are obviously toys.

My VERY FIRST try at cake decorating! Thanks so much for all the great inspirations (from posted photos & chats)!
Lightning McQueen is royal icing transfer. Broke in 3 pieces (can see the repair job). Did it break because not enough time to dry? Would love to hear advise.
This cake is for friend's son's birthday. Practicing for my daughter's in 3 months and my son's birthday (same theme) next March.

Thanks to my sister Carrie for doing this one with me. Castle (Thanks Kellym) 5.5" round and 9"square and 16" pillow cake (Thanks Michelle for doing the legwork). Impression mat for castle stonework, cute MMMouse door handles, everything is MMF. Pillow was too big to tackle for a first pillow cake--but the banner and M&M's turned out cute.

A two-tiered "Cars" themed cake for a 3-year old's birthday. Various characters in FBCT are around the sides of the cake with "Welcome to Radiator Springs" in the back. A store-bought Lightning McQueen tops the cake along with flags that I made by printing out a checkered flag design and attaching to skewers. Street signs and mini-roads also adorn the cake.

hello, this is my first post on this site and i just wanted to know what people thought of my daughters birthday cake? ive been making cakes for a few years now but this is the first time ive made one with a purpose- i usually just make them out of boredom. it was suggested by some people that i start doing a small scale celebration cake business but im not sure im good enough-so i would appreciate any advice from all you experts, and please be honest-i dont get offended easily! :)

This was my first attempt using mmf. I think it turned out ok, not spectacular. I wish the fondant would have looked smoother. The cake is the Vegan chocolate cake from this site, very tasty. Belle is painted on a mmf plaque using Wilton gel colors.
