technically this was a welcome back from the first day of school cake! it's a 13 x 9in w/ bc icing and fondant accents. i put my 3 kids fave colors in the middle then wrote their name & grade! they loved their after school snack!

The Fort Worth Builders Assoc & Kelidoscope of Homes Tour celebrated last weekend by throwing a charity event to support The Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. It was held in Fort Worth and I was asked to put on a 250 cupcake display for the event. I choose a large cupcake tier, place an 8" square cake on top with the events logo on front. I then place 250 cupcakes with crayons, presents, & star toppers on them on the bottom 4 tiers. I had such a great time doing this and thought I'd share.

I made this cake for a little boy named Harold. His parents loved the book "Harold and the Purple Crayon" so I recreated their favorite parts of the book. The cake is chocolate blackout with an oreo cream filling and chocolate swiss merenge buttercream frosting. The cake is covered with fondant and the decorations are gumpaste.

Made for a friend's birthday who is a kindergarten teacher. White cake, buttercream icing. Apple is RKT covered in fondant, all other decorations are fondant.

This cake was for my son's Kindergarten Family Fun night. Square is buttercream, Chalkboard is fondant covered and Apple is rice crispy treat. All decorations are gum paste and fondant. This was so fun to make!!

Elmo cake made for a 1st birthday. Client sent a cake picture that they liked that had real crayons stuck on it...but I found crayon shaped birthday candles instead. :)

This is a cake for a Teacher of the Year, Para of the Year, and Special Education Teacher of the Year. 3 Tier Buttercream Icing. Trim is in Fondant.

Elmo cake with fondant crayons, eyes. Mouths on cupcakes are cookies. Didn't want the kid's faces black with icing.

This was for my son's 2 year old birthday party. After I took this picture, the topsy turvy look collapsed and I had to restack and the piano was a bit crushed, but he still loved it. The piano was peanut butter and jelly, the TV was banana split, and the fishbowl was banana. The crayons were made out of chocolate. My son claimed the fishbowl for his own. Elmo was sculpted out of rice krispy treats, covered in chocolate, and I used the grass tip to make his hair with the red icing.

Crayola cake made with coloured cake slabs covered in marshmallow fondant. Crayon are made with Rice Krispies shaped into crayons then covered with fondant.

These were also made for my daughter's 2nd birthday party. Let me just say, they were not easily made! I used instruction from the wilton cake pop book. They are very time consuming to make, but so worth it! If you look closely you will see they are nowhere near flawless but cute nonetheless. Everyone loved them! TFL :)

This birthday girl knew exactly what she wanted, as seen in her own cake design drawing that I printed as an edible image on the easel at the bottom. She wanted this animal print cake to display her photo on top and also her love of art. She told me which art supplies she wanted on her cake. She requested a GLOO stick (she just turned 6) and though it's spelled incorrectly, her mother asked that I keep it that way. :-) All iced in buttercream and all of the decorations are made of fondant. This was fun; thanks for looking! Thanks to CC for the inspiration, especially to Kalli Cakes & Confections for her wonderful Crayon tutorial!

Vanilla Cake, iced in bc and covered in RF. Bow is Fondant. Crayons have each cilds name piped on in royal icing. TFL :)

For my twins' first day of pre-k. Made from single layer 6 inch cakes with fondant accents. I did not take the time to smooth the frosting as I was in a rush and new they would not really care ;)

Thank you tguegirl for your awesome tutorial! My daughter loves crayons and when I saw your cake, I knew it was what I had to do. Cake is all buttercream with fondant accents. The letters were printed onto cardstock using Porky's font and hand cut out of fondant with an exacto.
