Did this cake for my cousin's wife, who everyone teases never gets off MSN. Turned out okay, but I decided to make a fancy, filled cake, and the weight of the figure started to cave it in. Lesson learned!!!!

Made for a lady who was retiring that worked at a help desk. My husband was carrying it into work and slipped on some ice and dropped it, along with the 24 cupcakes. Apparently, only the border pulled away. WHEW!!

This is my first laptop cake. Bottom layer is a 12x18 and the laptop is a 9x13. The keyboard keys are made from black fondant that I cut out with square cutters. The screen is a piece of styrofoam size 9x13, I wrapped it with foil, glued a piece of black construction paper on the front, and did a screenshot of my computer desktop printed it out and glued it on top of the construction paper. The screen is held in place by 4 dowel rods stuck halfway in the bottom of the screen and halfway in the bottom cake.

fondant cover with fondant accents. Made for my family who met on the internet. It was a surprise for the bride and groom and they were thrilled because there was so much meaning behind it. I wish you could see more detail. Photos are always so hard to capture. I wonder if there is a trick to it?

This cake was done with 3 days notice for my DD SIL's borthers who are computer geeks. I got this picture from Printshop and did it in transfer mode for the FBCT. Even though I didn't have alot of time to think this one through, I think it turned out okay. I still have problems with "worms" in my FBCT - drives me crazy!!

I made this for my husband's boss. Their division has had a rough start to the year with projected numbers and forecasting. There are many late nights at work --to the point of utter exhaustion-- hence my version of this Beachcakes inspired cake. I thank her for her talent which she is so gracious about sharing.

The bottom (pc) is a 9"X13" cake, and the top (monitor) is three 8" square layers. All chocolate covered in fondant. All pieces are made out of fondant, as well. Sorry, this is not the best picture, as the wax from the birthday candles had already melted onto the cake in some parts. The kids at party all thought the cake was pretty cool, but maybe a bit small to be a computer!

This cake was for a guy who graduated from computer school. His wife wanted me to copy him in his home office. She took tons of pictures for me and made a list of tons of stuff she wanted on the desk. It is hard to see but I had to make a poland spring water bottle, stapler, tape dispenser, Continental airline ticket and much much more. She also wanted to to incorporate his love of skiing and woodworking so I added some stuff on the first tier. And there dog on a pillow behind her husband.

These were for a Computer Nerd who was turning 21. They are NFSC w/ Glace and RI. I had a good idea and piped out the blue computers on wax paper, let those dry, then as I was putting the green glace on I just peeled the computers off and stuck 'em on. It was VERY easy. Then I wrote w/ a black food marker for the keys and 21.

With a computer geek for a dad, what else could I do?? This turned out pretty good. The keyboard was the most fun as I used square gum and food coloring pens. A big hit.

This was a bit of a rushed job, for my son. I spend so much time making cakes for other people that it's hard to fit in the time to make my own kids' cakes really nice. :( Hopefully it will taste good anyway - chocolate peanut butter caramel cake!

Marshmallow fondant for the entire cake and the circuits. The lines are silver dust painted on. The characters are printed out from the PBS website, laminated, then added wire to the back to make them stand. My daughter had fun placing the characters on her cake. Name in binary around the edges of the cake. This is my first fondant cake.

Made to look like the sound board for a local college radio station. Took 3x's as long as I expected mostly due to all those TEENY TINY LITTLE squares that needed to be cut. UGH! Covered in fondant, all fondant accents. TFL!

Done for the owner of www.melissabethdesigns.com as copies of her computer tote bag designs. Fun to do! Had to omit butter in the NFSC recipes for a completely dairy-free/whey-free cookie, but found great success using a dairy-free Fleischmann's margarine brand instead. Phew!
