My husband came home for his R&R (he's halfway through his 18 month deployment) and he LOVES chocolate and peanut butter. The 4 tiers are chocolate fudge cake with peanut butter frosting. The designs on the side are chocolate and mini chips. There are Hershey's peanut butter kisses on the first layer (and one on top). The top circle is Reese's popables and chocolate drizzle. I thought it would be a better present than the normal Reese's peanut butter cups he gets :)

This was a fun cake to make. I melted chocolate and wrapped it in pieces around the cake. I then melted caramel for the tops and accent pieces. It was for DH's grandma, who is a wild one. LOL The cake was chocolate and had caramel filling. It was incredibly rich.

Just practicing my drop flowers. Thought I would try chocolate buttercream instead, and for some reason it just got better the longer it stayed in the fridge! I made it on Sunday and by Wednesday I could not stop "testing" it!

Joint party for two fifteen year old cousins. Identical cakes to serve 50...so added "fluff" to give the illusion of a more grand cake. Chocolate fudge cakes with raspberry and chocolate fillings. White BC piping. Pink accents. Fondant pearls. Silk flowers. White lights in glass bowl under flower bouquet....elevated.

I did my own wedding cake! :) Handmade chocolate covered cherries, the cake was chocolate and iced in chocolate BC (butter based...noooo shortening....so fattening!) then covered in chocolate ganache...a candy melt in between each shell...oh and our topper? Iceman & Firestar! (My dh, the comic freak! LOL)

My first chocolate transfer on top of a 6" cake. What a learning experience. I had a few air bubbles and the faces are kind of weird but overall not too bad for the first time. It was fun and I hear the 2 year old birthday girl loved it.

I make a cake every month for my bunco group. This was this months. It was a chocolate mud cake filled & covered with gananche and then I added the chocolate accents. The bow matched the letter on top - the initial of the girl who's last bunco was tonight. First time I made the mud cake - everyone LOVED it!!

I was testing a new white cake recipe and, of course, had to decorate it, too. I wanted to try chocolate curls for this non-occasion cake. Got nothing but chocolate flakes. But, it's OK. They taste good! :) Dots are spots of candy melts, done on waxed paper then peeled off and applied...flat side out.

I just wanted to add this picture, because I was searching this site for an example of a 30th birthday cake for a man, and couldn't find one that I could use. Most of the cakes were for women, or were very elaborate & this cake only needed to serve 7 & also had to travel with my friend for an hour in the car.... so, I hope this helps someone in the future, to find a simple idea! =)

My friend asked me for the most ridiculously chocolaty cake I have every made for her 30th birthday. So here it is!! 4 layers of chocolate fudge cake, filled with (from the bottom up) chocolate hazelnut mousse & whole roasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate ganache, and another layer of the mousse and hazelnuts. It is covered in dark chocolate ganache and piped with mousse stars & hazelnuts. The whole cake is surrounded by Pirouline cookies, wrapped in a bow. THe plaque is molding wafers and ganche.

First attempt at a FBCT and with chocolate transfers (Dora and Swiper). Will try both these methods again since they were so much, and I could use the practice! Thanks to Squirrellycakes for the inspiration and the choc transfer instructions!

I am trying to make a totally dairy free chocolate cake so I thought I would practice. This is the chocolate Vagan recipe from this site. I'm not sure it's chocolatey enought though. I wanted to do white frosting so I made a batch of buttercream with all crisco - yuk! Anyway my filling started to leak so I improvised and decided to make the sides with chocolate that I saw in a book. Not to bad but needs some improvement.
