Loosely inspired by DianeLM's treasure chest, this chocolate cake is iced with buttercream. The cupcakes are also iced in buttercream, and topped with foil-wrapped chocolate coins.

Peacock blue luster dust. She wanted a girly, fancy, under-the-sea cake. I tried my best at Ariel--she was my first figurine (well, besides the 2 stick-figures on my laser-tag cake). The boys at the party were to get Pirate goody bags, hence the treasure chest.

I made this cake for my DH Bruce's 40th Birthday. This was a so thrown together thing. I made it after driving 6 1/2 hours home from vacation with 2 and 3 yr olds. The ice chest was 11 X 15 yellow cake cut in 3rds with caramel icing. The "beers" were sugar. I am almost embarrassed to even post it, but I think the idea is cute. My DH loved it and was so sweet.

Made this for my nephew's 4th birthday. The beach and water is 11X15 DF with marshmallow BC filling. Made hill with spare cake parts. Sand is crushed vanilla wafers. Ship is carved French Vanilla pound cake covered in candy clay. Treasure chest is mini loaf DF covered in candy clay, filled with real candy treasures. Sails are made of paper and wooden skewers (which were also used as dowels). I cheated with plastic pirates, eye patches, and a palm tree, but he loved it anyway. Thanks for looking!

Nephew wanted a pirate themed party so SIL asked me to make him this cake. I wasn't real happy with the "lid" because it didn't stand up better...next time I'll use my own instructions. Iced in chocolate BC and idea taken from the familyfun website

Inspired by Milliegonza's amazing cake http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1153631.html , this was a supplement cake to the Tinkerbelle cake. I showed her the two photos of these cakes so she could get ideas (I was going to do one combo Tink/Peterpan cake) and she said, "I want those cakes!"

My son loves link/legend of zelda from nintendo.
He wanted a link cake, this was our compromise.
Covered in rolled buttercream.
Link was made by melting & coloring chocolates, then tracing/filling in pic I found.
