Carved chest covered in fondant and airbrushed. Cape is fondant and the emblem is royal done with the pin prick method. The bride had a strip of photos on the table with it of the groom as a 4yo dressed as superman. They were black and white and the emblems were colored in. Super cute!

Fondant covered Treasure Chest. 4 black dowel rods hold the lid open. I used fondant for the gems and pearls. There are 2 small batter operated lights that look like jewels inside (found at Wal Mart) Sand is brown sugar. I always loved the foil wrapped coins! The lock is royal icing with luster dust.

I made this for my daughter's Pirates of the Caribbean party back when the first movie came out. I didn't cut the rounded top off the top layer of cake to give the look of the lid. I used buttercream frosting. And used beads, candy coins, rings, pearls, and a foil lock for accents. I used brown sugar for sand.

This is a full top FBCT. After I put the frozen FBCT on the cake I added some white "caps" to the water and swirled Corn Syrup on the water to give it a wet look. Thanks to "darkchocolate" for her help of achieving realistic looking water.

First of all, thank you to every CC'er that has posted a treasure chest cake. I looked at many pictures for inspiration. I made it my own by making a treasure map replica of his invitation. The lid is cake, but next time I will make it out of rice krispies treats, the lid was way too heavy. I made random marks on the fondant and then painted it.

I made this to go with a pirate ship cake for my son's 4th birthday. I made it in a loaf pan and didn't level it and cut off the top half. I did this before I knew anything about icing...so it could be done really cute

Treasure Chest. I baked 3 sheet cakes and cut them in 1/2 and stacked 3 on the bottom. Then stacked 3 for the top and carved the top to make it round. Fondant accents for the gold. Rock candy and some plastic necklaces found at Walmart. I was please with the turn out. This was one of 3 cakes I did for my son's 5th B-day.

Three layers of 11" ganache filled chocolate mud were lovingly baked and decorated to form this........Chic Trashy Treasure Chest for a 21st! I incorporated her outfit into the 'treasure' (she wore pink fishnet stockings - not much else-, curled her hair and wore trashy jewellery) It was heaps of fun and the whole party totally adored it!!

I made this for my friends daughters birthday, after she had seen my sons cake which is slighly different. I got the idea from an Ann Pickard cake design and just changed it a bit.

This is my take on Ishi's pirate ship cake. My first cake totally covered in fondant. Thanks for the inspiration. I used an 11x15 using the cut triangles for the front and purposely made sure I had a strip for the back. The treasure chest was cut from an extra 4 inch round I had from another project. The Island is molded from Rice Krispie treats. I used a leaf veining tool to etch the woodgrain in the fondant strips on the ship and an impression mat for the treasure chest. wafer paper for the sails and Brownulated sugar for the sand. Took me forever but this cake was super fun to do. When my coworker and her husband picked it up they said they didn't really want to cut it.
