Carved 3-D aiplane birthday cake. Customer asked for a 3-D airplane that looked like it's flying-I hope this does! Fondant covered foamcore wings and tail; buttercream body with fondant windows.

This is a horrible picture - my fault for not taking a photo myself! Carved from a sheet cake. I've learned a lot since this was done!

This was my first tractor cake. It is a carved sheet cake on top of a sheet cake. I used Michelle Foster's Delicious Fondant for covering and some decorations. I also used Nicholas Lodge gumpaste for decorations. Used edibly image for logos. Wheels were RCT covered in fondant. Plaque was gumpaste covered in fondant. Thanks to jakenheather, all4cake,boyoboy,qtcakes,GaPeach2430139, and NEWTODECORATING for your help. (I hope I didn't forget anyone else) The birthday boy and his parents loved it.

For this cake I used the idea posted by Cambo. Thanks! :-) It's an 8 inch round with the ears carved from a 6 inch and attached with icing. The bows on both Hello Kitty and the cupcakes are made from royal icing. Cake is Funfetti and the cupcakes are Cherry Chocolate Almond and Apple Spice. All icing is buttercream.

Each of Jojo's shoes is a small loaf cake, wrapped in fondant, as well as the body, which I carved. The head is cake, on it's own plate, also wrapped in fondant.

International Papers tree stump cake, with the company's logo carved onto the stump, done for a company party. All buttercream, two double layers of dark and decadent chocolate with the bottom layer doweled, filling of oreo cream cheese. The bird is a faux one from Hobby Lobby that I just put on at the last minute.

This is the close up view 3D carved cake, used my hubby's real shoe wrapped in plastic for a template. Covered in mmf. This was pretty easy but took time as it was my first time making a tennis shoe. Very happy with the result. It was a grooms cake, yes it was pink!

Thanks to weirkd for her help on this. This is Boots the monkey , Dora's best friend. If you squint with one eye closed he sorta looks like him...
Bottom is all cake with bc and the monkey is cake covered with fondant. I am not good with fondant...someday I hope I will be...
Grandson ( 2) loved it...and all he could say was "cake, cake, cake" and stuck his finger in it ...that is all that counts to grandma...

This was to replicate the dress that the birthday girl was to wear for her quincinera (hispanic celebration for a girl's 15th birthday.) The dress was very detailed and I tried to incorporate that as much as possible without overwhelming the white on the cake. This is covered in fondant and the piping is done in red buttercreme. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the girl standing beside the cake, it turned out very similar. Thanks for looking!

This was my first attempt at a topsy turvy. I was happy with it, but didn't think that the angles looked as dramatic as some that I have seen. The cake was four different flavors, covered with fondant and fondant and gum paste accents.

Top half is cake. Bottom half is Rice Krispy/popcorn treats. Cake is iced in buttercream. Arms, feet, and eyes are fondant. The rest is buttercream. I found out 2 hours before they needed the cake that they needed it 6 hours earlier than scheduled. That left me one hour to get it iced and decorated. It's a sloppy job but not too bad for the time I was given. The flavors were 1/2 chocolate & 1/2 strawberry.

I made this cake for my husband's b-day. He is a Mater fanatic. I used a new chocolate cake recipe that tasted great but carved horribly - it was a nightmare to frost!! All BC with candy for the towing gear, mirrors and teeth. Thanks for looking!!

This was chocolate fudge "rear end" and yellow butter "head" with buttercream filling and icing and fondant decorations. My version of the incredible DianeLM's dalmation. The little boy loved it. His favorite thing is his stuffed dalmation "Spot".

1/4 sheet cookies and cream cake iced with buttercream and covered with fondant. Airbrush green and BC gridiron lines and numbers, BC grass border. Helmet carved from 3 stacked 6x2" round layers of lemon poundcake. 18 guage wire facemask covered with fondant. Fondant pennant with the birthday boys' name in BC and fondant helmet accents. Luster dust with vodka for metallic gold. Helmet carved taller than needed, in anticipation of "smushing" when the fondant was applied.

This is one of my first ever cakes and definitely the first carved cake! Look at that frosting. This was before I understood about consistency! LOL - Or the Melvira Method! I had cake leftover so I decided to make the turtle! Although I did notice that I combed the fins and they really looked good! (Quit looking you can't tell-- just trust me! LOL)

This is the first carved cake I've ever done. I accidentally smashed the spikes on it's back down and tried to repair it (as you can see). The entire dragon is all cake with the exception of the legs. It kind of shifted and normally I wouldn't show a cake like this but I was really proud of it. All feedback welcome!

Happy Halloween! Made with 2 bundt cakes, one chocolate, one vanilla. Iced in canned vanilla icing, which is when I switched to making my own icing for cakes! Used so much gel dye to get the cake orange that the icing wouldn't firm up and kept smearing! After the cake, I found the orange color spray. Figures. Stem was an ice cream cone covered in green candy melts. Face piped on. October 2007. TFL!

This was my first free form 3D cake. I based it on the cake shown and used in "The Sound of Music" Nueschwanstein Castle. It is 6 9x13 sheets stacked and carved. then covered in fondant. If you look closely I got a brick pattern from the Hobby Lobby and pressed it into the fondant before I covered the walls. The rest is a combo of RI and BC. i also used the Romantic Castle kit from Wilton.

For a friend's daughter - 18th birthday. She was getting the electric violin for her birthday, so I made this from the picture. The violin neck is rice krispy , the rest is cake with buttercream icing and fondant accents, the string is thread. the body was carved from a 9 inch and 8 inch cake, single layer. The violin rests on two double layer 6 inch cakes. The birthday girl and mother were pleased. Such fun to see their smiles !

Thanks to Amy729 for your fabulous example of a tractor cake! I had a lot of fun on this one and was so sad when I realized that I had forgotton to put on my RI steering wheel (I had made it in a lily nail so it was really cool! :( !! ) It is a 2-layer 9x13 chocolate with chocolate BC and a carved tractor out of white cake. Toba's fondant and BC Dream.
