This Cake was for a hog hunter. I had pictures of real hunted hogs to look at while I decorated the cake. You could see the skin on the hog in patches through the hair and that is why I left patches uncovered on my cake too. The cake is carved from 2 11x15 chocolate stacked sheet cakes with the cut corners patched in for the snout and folded legs. The cake was then iced in buttercream with the hair piped on with a grass tip. Eyes were made from fondant and ears were gumpaste. The entire cake was then airbrushed with several colors.

I made this cake for my 3 y.o. nephew Alexander. He has made up his own "Knock Knock" joke :
Alexander "Knock knock" (with a british accent, don't ask me where or how!)
me "Who's there?"
Alexander "Banana"
Me "Banana who?"
Alexander "BANANA! hahahahahahahahah!"
:)
Too cute! So I made him this Banana flavored cake in the shape of a banana. I put a layer of French vanilla pudding in the middle (yum!) and the icing is banana/vanilla flavored buttercream.

I made this for my son's cubscout "blue and gold banquet" last weekend. I also made 125 or so servings of sheet cakes to go with it. The theme of the banquet was "travel." The cub master dressed up like a pilot etc. It was cute.

This cake was done for a lady who was retiring from the police force. She had worked for four local police departments, Bloomington, Normal, ISU and McLean County. So this car is four different departments all in one car. The front third is for McLean County, the middle third is for Normal, the back third is for Bloomington and the roof has Reggie Redbird for Illinois State University. All the details were hand painted onto the fondant using Wilton colors thinned with clear vanilla. The finished car measured 16 inches long by 7 inches wide.

This was for my daughter's 6th birthday. Chococlate cake covered with fondant - my version of Collette Peter's 'Mr Sticky the Chameleon'. Great fun to make. I carved it at night and wasn't happy with it but couldn't work out why. I went to bed and when I woke up I knew exactly what was wrong - I hadn't carved the underneath - as soon as I shaped the bottom, it came to life. Fondant painted with petal dust/lustre dust to make it really vibrant.

This cake was fun, it is 3 6" round and one ball. I took the cut off pieces and mixed with bc and molded the nose and the other bumps and lumps that Jason has. Eyes are hand painted. The mask is made of foam (couldnt get the fondant one to stay on the head.). TFL. Please leave a comment if you would like.

This is a strawberry cake with fudge filling and white buttercream frosting. The lower wings are carved out of the top layer so that it has some depth. The 10 year old girl that this cake was for did not want pink or pastels. So, we went with bright primary colors.

Use this guide to make a cross cake without a special pan and NO CAKE LOSS. Works for 9 x 13 and 11 x 15 pans.
Cut the cake in half length-wise. Put Section #1 aside. Then cut the other long piece in half and put Section #2 aside. Cut the remaining piece in half to create Sections #3 and #4. Assemble as shown in placement guide.
Hope that makes sense. UPDATE: I was just informed of a much better/easier version of this. Here's a link: http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_585813.html

Is Jabba the Hut an animal? He looks it to me, so I hope I'm ok entering in this contest. He is on his throne here. I used pastillage for the first time making the railing, "monsters" and the pillows. I also handpainted (wtih food coloring) for the first time, painting everything but the "rug". Jabba and his thrown are covered in fondant. The "rug", plate and food on it are also fondant. I made this for a 6 year old's birthday.

This poor bunny fell apart and needed to have major surgery, but he pulled through. There wasn't time to make the eggs and flowers I wanted to decorate him with but he's my first standing carved critter and I'm just happy he lived.
