Of course, we had to have a traditional cake to display. Simple, white on white butter creme with white carnations. It is topped with a bride and groom that we found at Hobby Lobby. A lot of people liked them better than the more traditional bride/groom toppers.

I really didn't know where to put this b/c it wasn't for anyone/anything. First time using a dummy & MMF. Topper is made out of my 1st tries at gumpaste roses & carnations (hate those frills). Hope you can't see the toothpicks & wires too much. Just used what was on hand & cut everything freehand. Think I'll get cutters before attempting againg. Of course I shattered some of the flowers as well. TFL (Sorry for the shadows--flash didn't go off)

first cupcake bouquet.... thank you cambo for her wonderful step by step instructions...but I assure you it still wasnt as easy for me as she made it look!!! haha

the cupcakes weren't very good at supporting themselves...maybe my icing was too heavy? although its not as much as it looks
I wonder if I use chocolate or cookie bottoms if that would help??

This is a dummy cake I made for the Cincinnati Cake show this past weekend. It won first place for beginner novelty cakes! I was so excited and proud of my blue ribbon. The cake is hand carved and then adorned with state facts...flag, flower, insect, nut, and bird. Everything is hand made and hand painted with fondant, or made of RI. I'm a critique subgroup member. All comments are welcome and appreciated. TFL.

this was for a Easter wedding and it just tells you its spring! I used two bakery craft plates together and used those for support and just laid the flowers on the plates. It worked out well.

This cake is my donation this month to our local assisted living home. I thought I'd get away from the usual sheet cake shape I've been doing!

When I saw this idea in here, I had to try it myself! The icing flowers were quick and easy to make (there's an excellent YouTube video out there from the Culinary Institute of America.) I did have some trouble with the assemblage! A note to anyone trying this...your styroform ball needs to be about 2" smaller than your pot/bucket (the cupcakes need the support from the pot's rim.

These were decorated with buttercream frosting. Each flavor has a different flower. The rose was chocolate with raspberry filling, the Carnation was white with lemon filling, the pansy was white with strawberry filling and the blue flower was cappuccino with white chocolate swiss buttercream filling.

Made this cake as a favor for my mom's friend. I'm still in learning mode so she asked me if I'd want to make the cake so I could practice. It was infuriating trying to get the picket fence stabilized so as long as it makes it to the restaurant in one piece... I'm good. If it doesn't, I might just cry! Don't ask what the flowers are (other than the daisy of course)... I was playing. All in all, it is a very bright and fun cake and I do like it.

Birthday cake for a friends daughter that loves the Justice Clothing Monkey. It was a surprize and made her smile. Sometimes simple is the best! Buttercream and fondant pieces.

I made these flowers for my sister-in-laws 30th birthday cake. She asked me if I could make her a hanging basket with lots of bright flowers in it, so these are what I came up with. The flowers are singapore orchids, freesias, sweet peas, carnations, mini roses, two types of ivy, and orange filler flowers. I have posted a close up shot of the flowers, and I will post a pic of the finished cake tomorrow when complete. TFL

My first try on carnations. I'm not so good at it. I can't figure out how to get the frills right. They like to tear. The round things match the baby's room theme. Hope you like it. All sugar paste. Pearl dust too.

The Loser for throw down between myself & Couturiere. Had to be totally edible and the theme was Ribbons & Lace. Two-tiered pound cake covered in white fondant with pink gumpaste carnations, yellow, pink/lilac colored roses, white plunger flowers, pulled lilac flowers, & yellow fantasy filler flowers, along with rose leaves, ferns & gumpaste ribbons. Fondant ribbon inserts with bows, RI lace butterflies & lace points on extension work with "poor man's" lace on the bottom to finish. Critique Subgroup Mbr.

12/8/6, all BC;florals provided by bride. This was a neat one. Mom of bride lives in Kansas, found me via the internet and ordered the cake in one phone call. She popped in while I was setting it up and luv'd it! She had made a "gramma's recipe" small side cake, which I decorated with flowers for her (to cover the kitchen plate she had the cake on!). Pic of gramma's-recipe cake is on my Flickr site. The kudos I got on this simple cake from mom and the photographer will feed my ego for a few days!)

My first course bouquet - roses, sweet peas, shredded carnations, filler flowers and assorted leaves - all made from flower paste.
This was my first course on flowers, and i am very happy with the results, the roses look more realistic than my others.
Thank you for looking - comments welcome!

First wedding I did with fresh flowers. It looked so plain when we are delivering it.
It looked really pretty in the rest of the decorations.

My first time at carnations!!! They were kinda scary. I ended up doing them on the stick like a rose. Worked out great!! The flowers are royal icing. Thanks so much for looking! The double heart was something that was her theme. I almost forgot to add to cake and it shows! Should have made it smaller!!
