Full sheet cake with whipped icing. I put the king on freehand because it was too big to do a FBCT.

This cake was made for a woman's 40th birthday party that had a games theme. It was my first topsy-turvy cake - very exciting - and I created a giant game board in the style of Candyland that traveled up and around the cake. In true Candyland fashion, there were little areas around the gameboard: UNO Forest, Twister Wood, Chutes and Ladders Lane, Dice Tree, Domino Mountain, and Go Fish Swamp. She didn't want it covered in fondant so there's a BC base with fondant and gum paste decorations. Pic 1 of 2.

Oh my gosh...this was a fun cake to make. I went to Wal Mart and had then print edible images of playing cards, then attached them to gumpaste. Poker chips were fondant and the suits on the bottom tier were also fondant. Fun, fun, fun!!! Thanks for looking!

6" & 8" topsy turvey. The bottom tier was made with the diamond impression mat and diamond cut outs, the cards were all made of gumpaste, and the tea cup and tea pot were made of fondant. The base was made with a million fondant squares! :)
(the mom had her own ribbon she wanted to put around the base, that's why it's naked ;-)

My son requested this cake for his birthday, he loves to play Texas Holdem. Of course his was the hand that made the royal flush to win. All of the cards are made out of gumpaste and I attached a couple decks of playing cards to make the board stand out and add to the theme.

For an 80 yr old who loves to play rummy.
Covered in fondant, painted woodgrain with everclear and food coloring, gumpaste cards.
The hands were carefully planned to that one person (the birthday boy) would only need one more card to win- and that card is the op in the middle of the table.

This cake was for a man who loves to play poker. He also is a cherry farmer, that's why there are cherries on the backs of the cards. He was turning 48 years old, but he really didn't want anyone to know, so they wanted the two cards thats are showing to be his age. All fondant and gumpaste. Thanks for looking!
