I made this cake for my husband's birthday. I copied it from a cake I saw on line. It is a pina coloda cake with homemade marshmellow fondant. It was my first time making marshmellow fondant & I did make quite a mess! Thankfully it turned out OK & it did not taste too bad either!

This is the final product for a 40th birthday cake. The chips are fondant, and the cards and 7's are a pattern transfer.

Critique group member: This is for my BIL's mother who is a huge coffee drinker. Let me say that I have worked with fondant, but never covered cake with it until this one. The mugs and sugar bowls are cake, covered in Satin Ice and painted. There are lots of imperfections (I know), but overall I think they're OK for a first go. The spoons are MMF, the cards are RKT covered in fondant. The coffee is piping gel. The "table" is a 10" vanilla with raspberry filling and bc icing. Color is ugly, but BIL chose it.

BC with RI cards & '30', fondant poker chips. I love doing whimsicals, even though they're more work. They bring more 'fun' to a cake. The birthday girl was ecstatic, and that's the most important thing, right?!

This was carved from 2 12 inch rounds. They really hated butter cream so the table is mainly covered in whipped icing with fondant accents. Cards and chips are hand drawn. Cigar has crushed oreo cookie at the end for the ash. Little card symbols around the board are fondant. Thanks for looking!

This was my first at a bingo card. I made it for my mom's 60th tomorrow. Unfortunately my mmf numbers didn't fit in my squares so I had to pipe them on. Next time I have to measure better! Everything b/c, red markers are mmf. Thanks for looking!

All fondant except for buttercream writing and Celtics and Redsox logos. This was a birthday cake for a big poker fan. It was presented to him at a 20 person poker tournament he was hosting. No one would cut it. Thanks to CCer for pedestal table legs idea!

I was asked to make a cake for a lady's 90th birthday. I was told she loves to play the card game Bridge... and that the theme for her party was 'The Golden Girls'. So I covered the cake in green to represent a baize table - and not only can she celebrate her 90th birthday, but it looks like she's got a pretty good hand of cards there, too! Vanilla sponge with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream, covered with marzipan and sugarpaste. Cards are made from pastillage and have edible prints.
