12", 10", 8", 6". Topper is a gumpaste bowl filled with gumpaste flowers. Everything fondant or gumpaste except the top tier border, tried to do a Lambeth "inspired" thing there with shells and stringwork.

all fondant, using Moydear77's embroidered rose technique (thanks, Mary Ann) hand painted gold RI dots, brush embroidery leaves. It won best of division! The technique is in the June/July 2007 issue of American Cake Decorating magazine. This cake actually has 4 of those roses on it....there is one on the back, too, for that "360 degree" decoration they stress on the Food Network Challenges.

I've been wanting to try one of these ever since I saw Antonia74's. I also wanted to try brush embroidery (the flowers on top). I'm happy with the results.

I made this for a lady who wanted a special cake for her "Best Friend", just because! I thought that was nice, so I did the best I could. This was my first time trying brush embroidery, and I will never try it again with cream cheese icing. There were also dragon flies along the left side. Homemade carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Many thanks to "toodlesjupiter" for her inspiring friendship quotes. Thanks for looking.

DH got a clean bill of health from the doctor and immediately asked me to bake him a cake. He couldn't decide what flavor so we went with 1/2 deep, dark chocolate, 1/4 strawberry, and 1/4 orange. Iced with Vanilla-Almond buttercream. TFL

The bottom layer is a 12" round with a 10" round cut in half and then crescent-ed and stuck on. Each layer was done this way, just getting smaller. Covered in fondant, stencil, brush embroidery, and a tiny rose mold was used for the decorating. Gumpaste gardenias, roses, leaves, and other blossoms. I *loved* making this cake. The bride sent me a picture of a wedgewood jewelery box that she had, and told me I could surprise her with whatever I wanted. She loved it, everyone did.

The daughter of my friend was being confirmed in the Catholic Church yesterday and my friend asked me to make a cake to help celebrate the special occasion. The figure is the girl in her confirmation dress and the cake is made to mimic the dress. The black flowers were done using brush embroidery (my first attempt at this). The figure was done in fondant mixed with tylose powder.

I brought this cake to the Florida ICES Convention in 2008. This was one of the first cakes I had ever decorated so I wanted to try a bunch of different techniques, including fondant (my first time covering a cake!), brush embroidery, a gum paste bow, some Lambeth, and royal icing piping.

I made this cake for my daughter's 1st birthday studio photos. I made it to match her dress. I messed up on the tree branches- I piped all of it before doing the brush embroidery and it dried up so I made the most of it and tried to cover up my mistakes. I learned from it though. I did the flowers and leaves one by one! Devil's Foodcake with Mexican Chocolate Buttercream filling, covered in fondant, royal icing flowers, leaves, branches.

This is for my niece's 7th birthday. Fondant and royal icing, of course. This is my first time with extension work to prepare for a sugar art show I'm competing in this year. I was thrilled that it came out so well, being my first time and all. Cake is strawberry with straw-creme buttercream filling. *I'll be putting a pink bow around the cake base before presentation. ;)

I made this cake for my church's one year anniversary. The design is patterned after the church logo. I painted a verse on then piped royal icing on after it had dried. Vines and flowers done in brush embroidery. It was the first time I'd actually tried the technique on a cake. All buttercream and royal icing.

My 4th fondant cake. Carrot cake with cream cheese filling, vanilla cake with caramel filling and red velvet with cream cheese filling. First time doing brush embroidery. I hated borders in the middle tier -- so uneven. Top tier isn't smooth. I turned white fondant into black and the consistency turned super soft. I realized that the tails for the ribbon should be a lot wider. I would have to say that I am not that happy with the results but this does look a lot better in person. Ugh I'll try next time.

The multi-colored design for this cake was actually inspired by the uniform one of the nurses at work. The brush embroidery was fun and easy to do. I thought it seemed a bit messy in places, but when I stepped back and looked realized that is was actually going quite nicely.

B-day gift for a 12 year old. I wanted to make it black and white but she loves purple so I was forced to use it. Not very happy with the results. I think it looks a messy. The decorations were a last minute thing, the round tier isn't smooth enough, again--last minute thing. The brush embroidery took 6 hours, the purple looks darker in person, I flicked dust on the purple, to give it a distressed/dusty/wintery effect (NO it is not cornstarch, it looked shimmery in person). Overall, I am not that satisfied
