6" and 10" cakes. Iced in buttercream (sugarshack's recipe) with fondant decorations. The figures were store bought. My 9 year old helped me with this one- she made the coins, stars, and most of the little things. We got the idea for the top cake from the introduction in the Super Mario World Wii game. Made for my best friend's son. Thanks!

Cake for a friend's birthday. It's based on the piranha plant cake character from the Super Mario Brothers video game.
The bottom part of the pipe is made from a 10" cake dummy and then a 10" cake. The top of the pipe is a carved 12" cake. Yellow butter cake with chocolate buttercream frosting, all covered in fondant. Piranha plant stem is a 3/8" dowel rod that goes all the way through the cakes and cake dummies and is secured to the cake board; also decorated with fondant. Plant head is a styrofoam ball covered in fondant. The thing stood about 3 feet tall!

Many thanks to Doug for the diagram on how to put a central dowel in a wooden board, and mad_mike for his piranha plant cake that inspired this one!

For a super girly-girl who was turning 12, loves bright colors and the Jonas Brothers.. so we pulled it all into one design. All iced in buttercream with fondant details. This was my FIRST attemt at zebra stripes, and I was super pleased with the outcome. The middle tier has the Jonas Brothers logo on it, but it is hard to see. The top has music notes, per request of the birthday girl. Topped with a fondant bow, with real white ribbon for texture. It was a huge hit at the party!

This was for my grandson's 8th birthday party. It is a franch vanilla cake with butterscotch cream filling. The frosting on the sheet cake is butter cream and fondant covered Luigi. His nose and ears are rice kripsies treats covered in fondant. I have never tried the rice kripsies before and only tried fondant a few times. Still learning.

This was just for fun. My friends and I are huge video game geeks and so I decided to make a Chain Chomp from the Mario Bros games! The coloring is a bit off and his last tooth looks wonky.

I saw a photo of this cake online (theirs was better!), and fell in love with it! So when a customer asked for a Super Mario themed cake I was thrilled to have a chance to try my hand at it! The little boy loved it!

Mario Brothers themed cake for a little boy turning 8 at a local shelter. 8 in round, BC w/ fondant accents. I had some bulging issues with the filling this time, I'm thinking the humidity had something to do with it. All in all it turned out okay. Thanks for looking!

3 layer cake - bottom is chocolate fudge with creamy peanut butter filling - middle layer is yellow with an orange cream cheese filling - top layer is lemon with raspberry filling - covered in buttercream and MMF. All pieces are fondant and some gumpaste..Bowser came out a little heavier than I thought and was weighing down the top layer..All in all a fun project (especially when an accident outside put me working in the dark lol)

This was my first attempt at making a cake. Considering it was a learning process, I am very pleased with the outcome. Mario characters are made from modeling chocolate and Tootsie Roll in a variety of flavors. Mario himself is carved from Styrofoam and covered with the tootsie roll also. It was a hit at my 5-year-old grandsons birthday party yesterday, both with the kids and adults.
