I copied this idea from one i saw on cake central with a 2 instead of a 3. Thanks Lorimc for the great idea! Trees were made out of ice cream cones, and the 3 was carved from a 1/4 sheet cake.

A simple vanilla sheet cake and vanilla buttercream frosting.  The landscape is made from gumpaste flowers, chocolate rocks, and some green airbrushing.  All the figures are hand made from gumpaste:  turtles, mushrooms, and of course, Mario, Luigi and the Grand Star

My sister made this cake for her son's 3rd birthday.  2 10" rounds with 2 6" rounds stacked on top. BC frosting - chocolate and white colored for the green & blue.

My first proper cake (I did two practice cakes before this just to get the hang of baking the cake, putting on the icing and whatnot.  Was surprisingly easy!

Grandson's 2nd birthday cake.  He loves dump trucks. Pattern for cake made from party plate.  Buttercream with fondant tires, lights and windshield.

This was my first tiered cake. (I've since purchased Sugarshack's stacking DVD)  Had to travel with it over 2 hours to the birthday party for my Grandson.  It was a big hit.  WASC, 10 in. and 8 in.

This cake was made for a 7 year old birthday.  It is covered all in buttercream.  Cake board is covered in green fondant.

What can I say, some cakes turn out better than others.  This was a great idea, but not executed well.  Oh, well.  They still liked it!

All the figures on this cake were made with fondant and gum paste.  The meteor was made using the ball pan then covered with fondant and air brushed.   Thanks for looking :)

This is my first attempt at making a 3-D cake.  This is a cake mix covered in buttercream.  I used fruit rollups for the spine of the dragon and piped tinted buttercream for "fire" and toes.  Also the eyes are buttercream with a chocolate cookie.

I made this cake for two little boys' birthdays.  Hand carved cake, covered with buttercream and MMF.  All MMF detils, candy rocks and brown sugar "dirt" and gumpaste hand-painted letters.

This cake was for a friend of mine, who's son was having a birthday and wanted this cake. I was more than happy to comply... Except my hands were red for days after... Airbrushed sides of the cake was red and silver making that cool looking burgendy color... Mask was fondant decopage... something I am starting to do alot of ...

This was the first time attempting a 3-D/carved cake, I learned a lot about what not to do, but since this was my son's cake I thought it would make good practice.  Cake slid a lot on the trip over, made what repairs I could.  Not enough time to attach "wings" but well here is the finished product.  2-10inch cakes and 1 8inch cake.  Fondant and gum paste accents. Thanks for looking!

My son loves superheroes and this cake was for his 5th birthday.  It is covered in buttercream and decorated with BC and fondant accents.    This was my first large cake and I was pretty happy with how it turned out.  My son loved it. Inspired by many on Cake Central. Thank you.

Here is a birthday cookie cake I made for my son's 4th birthday last year.  I had never frosted a giant cookie before, I learned from this to frost the sides next time:-)

We had a flood over my ds's birthday and I couldn't get to the store the whole week before his birthday so I did a make-shift cake! It worked out well! White cake, rasp filling and bc frosting.  "dirt" is oreo's. Thanks for looking! AND

This is a 1/4 sheet, half white, half chocolate with strawberry filling and buttercream frosting.  Picture was drawn with a food coloring pen on a frosting sheet and filled in with gels.  My grandson loved it!

This was my first attempt at a skateboard cake.  The design was copied from an actual skateboard.  Covered in fondant.  Everything is edible (except the wooden dowels in the "chrome" part of the wheels).

I would to give credit and thanks to iva1976 for the inspiration and helpful tips. I had to drive 3 hours and stack on site, I forgot my silicone mat so I struggled with the fondant ribbon.
