I know this is a strange cake for anyone to make, but while I was in japan we felt so bad for the postal workers around Christmas time I decided to make them "Thanks for calling me at 8pm on Christmas Eve" cake~ so,,, that's how I got a box them!! lol It's just white cake cover with buttercream and fondant. They got a kick out of the cake when I took it to them!!!

Double chocolate cake with cigars made out of tootsie rolls. The top is made from card board and than covered with wrapping paper and a computer picture of a cigar box top. This is not my original design but I can't remember where the inspiration came from!!

First THANK YOU to all of you who helped me figure out how to prop this lid up. This was made for my sister-in-law, Lorrie. You can't see it very well in this particular picture, but the box is full of Whitman's Chocolates. It's a 2 layer 8X8 box with a 1 layer 8X8 lid.

This cake was a gift to a friend of mine who loves Pucca and The Beatles. The bottom box is an illustration of the lyrics to Across the Universe, and everything's MMF except for the gumpaste Pucca and word raindrops.

Gift box cake. Cake is chocolate covered in chocolate buttercream icing. Tissue is fondant. Lid and bow is gumpaste. Gift tag is rice paper. Pansies, rosebuds and violet are royal icing. Lid lifts off To reveal a surprise - a gumpaste orchid. She does not know the sex of the baby so I did the cake in pink and blue.

Third red velvet cake I have done for this group of "Red Hatters." This was the first hat box and also the first time working with MMF for the bow and flowers. The idea came from this site...thanks everyone.

First attempt at doing a present cake. 8" square, five layers. I didn't let it settle long enough before I covered it with the fondant so it sagged a little. Oh well, live and learn. It was a last minute request for my sisters last minute Bday surprise party. I had another cake due on the same day (pregnant shower cake). It was my first time having 2 cakes due the same day. Everyone loved it, and that's all I wanted!

This two-tier gift box cake was for a Surprise 30th Birthday party a mom threw for her daughter. The theme of the party was a Mexican fiesta-ish party. We decided not to go Mexican for the cake - but festive indeed! It is white cake with Oreos and Cream Buttercream, covered in vanilla buttercream and rolled fondant. I threw in a few sugar cookies decorated in the same color for a little more fun!

This cake really should be titled the LIDLESS Tiffany Box! Was playing around at work, cut a 1/4 sheet into 2 squares (had to trim a bit off) and made a box. Too bad I didn't realize until I was home with photo that I forgot the lid! Oh well. Everything is BC, the ribbon and bow were made with the large cake icer tip and smoothed with cornstarched fingers. I'm very pleased with the way it came out, although next time, I'll do it at home with MMF.

This was made for a young lady turning 21, with very expensive taste!
A 12 inch caramel mud cake with an 8 inch dark chocolate mud cake on top, both covered in FondX. The bow and ribbons are made with gumpaste and dusted with super pearl lustre. The logo was drawn freehand with a non toxic black marker pen.

This cake was for my Dad the chocoholic. I borrowed the idea from another on this site. Yes, there is actually a cake in there, but the rest is entirely chocolate including the 'box' and the candy 'cups'.

Boy oh boy...I had no idea where to post this! It's a vanilla butter cinnamon cake made of two 8"x8" squares on the bottom and one 8"x8" square on the top. The cakes are torted with a cream cheese filling. I made it for my MIL to bring to work for some free advertising for my budding cake business! It was fun to make and the first time I used homemade MMF versus store bought Wilton. Was it just me or do you have to warm MMF in the microwave everytime you go to use it? Thanks for your thoughts!

This was made for a friend's 50th Birthday. Both cakes are chocolate mud, and carved to shape, then covered in fondant, the shoe box in chocolate fondant. The accents are fondant/modelling paste, and the logos are hand drawn with non toxic markers. The mirror base was something I came up with because I was too lazy to cover the board with fondant ;0)

Thanks to Boonenati(Nati) and Socake(Sandra) for all their help and for letting me "borrow" their ideas :)

Here is my fair cake entry. This was tons of fun and I have received several comments. The lid is styrofoam wrapped in fondant proped up by two lollipop sticks. Assorted chocolates underneath. This was my first time trying the ruffle border and the striped affect and also the diamond impression. Red fabric ribbon is around the bottom.
