This is modeled after a Sesame Street puzzle I saw on the internet. I couldn't copy it exactly. I almost pitched the cake out the back door a few times but was talked down by my hubby thankfully. It's not the neatest but I thought it gave it a whimsical look. MMF characters and a mix of MMF, Royal Icing pieces and butter cream form the buildings. Saw a little too late that the RI was not necessary. Most importantly my 2 y/o daughter loved it. Could someone tell me the best way to color MMF??

I made the turkey to take to Thanksgiving since my sister in law is making the real one. It sank a bit, but overall turned out cute. I still need some practice with my cakes overall. Happy Thanksgiving! A big thank you to dish1971 for the great inspiration and directions.

This is a variation on some of the cakes I've seen in this gallery. It looked fine for a little bit then the lollipop tailfeathers kept falling.

Thanksgiving turkey cake/ centerpiece. Chocolate buttercream icing with fondant accents. Everyone LOVED this, but I was disappointed because a lot of it went to waste since everyone said it "looked too pretty to eat"! Sheesh, obviously it was a centerpiece AND dessert!! lol...

Final cake from Course 2 of the Wilton classes. It's iced in buttercream, decorated with the basketweave, a variety of royal icing flowers and colorflow birds. This is the cake my family always remembers. My twin sister ALWAYS tells me to make this cake again...but I have yet to repeat it. All those flowers took a lot of time. And on this cake, my buttercream started to get dry and the basketweave began falling apart in the front. Oh well, it was still cute. :)

My first grooms cake, and my mom helped me a ton. The duck was red velvet - of course and he was sitting on carrot cake. The head and beak were made out of rice krispe treats, iced in bc and dusted in different luster dusts - done by my mom. Wings and tail were white chocolate dusted with luster dust - my moms idea. I used the football pan for the shape of the body and carved some from their. Blue water was blue bc that had clear piping gel added on top for the glossy water effect.

Big Bird cake done for a friend's daughter's first birthday. Used a party hat to cover the top of cake instead of using icing. My second attempt at cake decorating.

This is the smash cake I did for a friend's daughter's first birthday. I was inspired by the cake from another member from this site. Matched the Sesame Street/Big Bird theme for the party.

This cake caused some challenges for me. I made it before I learned how important using a firm cake for sculpting was. The cake I used for this was softer, and did not hold the support stakes well. both cakes are covered in buttercream, and I used real chocolate chip cookies instead of making them from fondant or gumpaste. the beak and the eyes were made of fondant.

5-7-9 inch rounds. The ceramic Tweety 'topper' was too heavy and fragile, so I made the birdcage out of white chocolate and painted with gold highlighter dust mixed with cocoa butter. Real feathers inside.

He's also going to be a father of a girl, that's why I added a egg in the nest:P
Nest is made of stick crackers dipped in to melted chocolate. The others are made of moddeling paste and fondant.
