I used icedideas cake design as a reference, since her cake was for Aiden as well. Her cake seems a little more polished. Very fun cake to make, thanks for idea! 6- and 9- inch rounds. Vanilla cake with almond buttercream. All decorations are made of mmf. TFL!

I did a four tiered cake (14in, 12 in, 10in & 8in ) for my daughter's first birthday. The theme was 'Sesame Street' so I wanted to do an abstract version of the show's Old School characters.

Big Bird was on the bottom, and I used a plastic leaf tip (the metal ones didn't give the effect I wanted) to pipe feathers from tinted whipped frosting. Big Bird's nest border is the butterscotch haystack candy recipe; I made the candy and placed it in three sections on the outside of the pan so it was easy to place around the base of the cake when it came time for assembly.

For the remaining cakes, I used a grass tip and tinted buttercream frosting. Oscar the Grouch's trashcan was a strip of MMF fondant painted with edible silver dust accented with black. Cookie Monster's border was the easiest--I just bought the little chips ahoy cookies and placed it around the edge.

For Elmo, I tinted some MMF fondant orange and rolled it into a ball, placing it in the cake with a wooden skewer. I used toothpicks to secure the fondant eyes to the cake and drew in the black part with an edible food marker (although, really, I could've spared the $8 for the food pens and used a Sharpie because no one eats that part).

The cake took my friend and I a total of 3 hours to decorate but it was worth it--itwas an absolute hit and fed over 70 people--with leftovers to send home!

All cupcake pieces were handmade with fondant. There were 48 pieces! Yikes! I did not like the Abby Cadabby ones as I feel she turned out looking pretty cheap looking. Oh, well! Maybe next time I'll get it right!

Sesame Street cupcakes for my son's 1st birthday party. Faces are buttercream, eyes, noses, beaks, etc. are fondant/gumpaste mix. I didn't take pictures before it traveled to the party, and the TX heat made them a little droopy but they were still cute!

Declan and Cole were born exactly a year ago today. Around 5 months old Declan was diagnosed with a very rare form of pediatric cancer and sadly lost his battle last week, just days shy of his 1st birthday. To honor this brave fighter and his brother we donated a cake to the family so Cole and Declan could have an amazing cake. Though Cole will have to take that first bite on his own, we know that Declan, who smiled his way through months of painful treatments, will be smiling down from heaven at his favorite characters. Both boys adored Sesame Street so we proudly created this in their honor. All characters are RKT and covered in either fondant or royal. The trash can is a 6" cake and the base cake is 12". The ball is Declans ball that you can see on the website about his journey. www.declansjourney.com TFL

This was the 2nd time making this cake once for my son and this time for my friends son. I think big bird turned out better this time around. Also the cake looks better with the small letters instead of the big ones.

So my sister wanted a 3-D Big Bird cake for my niece's 17th birthday. This is the first time I'd ever attempted anything 3d - and I'm very happy with the results. (It's not perfect.. but it's not bad!)
