I tried to copy some gorgeous cakes I saw on CC - sorry - I forget your name but you know who you are - I had a heck of a time trying to free-hand the fondant dress and have tried to cover some of the mistakes up with flowers.

My first attempt at the "Belly Cake" Too much yellow but still turned out pretty good. I used MMF for the roses and the dress and it was a couple days old so it was a little brittle to work with, therefor there are some cracks in the dress here and there. - White Butter cake w/ w. choco cream & fresh strawberry filling. Frosted with w. Choco frosting, which gets way to soft and doesn't work with borders to well, but EVERYONE loves it with ANY kind of cake. Thanks for all the inspiration from the site!

This is my second belly cake. I baked a 9x13" vanilla caramel filled with fresh strawberry/cream cheese filling then iced with Cr Cheese/BC, topped with a body made from two coffee cups and a half ball pan with strawberry cake and frosted then topped with MMF. This is my first try with a ribbon fondant rose and luster dust. I purchased my dust here and applied it with a fan brush and everclear mixed in the cap of the dust jar. Once evaporated I re-closed the jar.

This was inspired by didi5's belly cake. I wanted to thank her for her help also!
It was made for my daughter's baby shower last month.
It is buttercream with fondant accents. The base is foamcore board covered in fondant with inlaid polka dots.

I saw the beautiful prego belly cakes here and committed to do one for a shower next month. Then suddenly, I got scared that maybe I couldn't pull it off, so I did a practice run today. No frills, just practicing with the fondant dress. Here's the result. Many thanks to didi5, ellyrae, and pinkpanther for their inspiration and helpful hints. (I also made the cake to celebrate my negative pregnancy test today considering I have a 6 month old!) :-)

Side angle to the practice run. I'm looking forward to doing thr real thing next month and decorating all around the dress (to cover flaws and such!) But...for those of you who'd like to do one of these, you SO can. If I can do it, YOU can!
(oh yeah....I didn't even use a ball pan. I just used 2 regular 8 in round pan sand sculpted the belly and boobs from those!)

This was COMPLETELY taken from Cakerer's version of the belly cake-the momma loved the way her dress design looked and draped softly-I only changed the colors of fondant and icing to match the shower. Momma to be even went out to buy a dress to match her cake!! This was a first for me, but very simple and fun to do. It's a half sheet with mega muffins and 8" rounded-all trimmed to not show edges. Strawberry cake.

Buttercream icing, then airbrushed the ones that are 2-toned... A Peeps is on top of the blue one. The pink one I used a small star-tip and pushed back and forth as I piped in a spiral. The white one is basketweave with Jelly Bellies on top.

I was so dissapointed in this cake! I learned that it is super important not to try to stretch your fondant (by stretch, I mean rolling it thin to make the batch go further than expected). Fortunately, it was a 'family' baby shower. The daisy cupcakes also in my pics went with this cake. Thanks for looking.

16 x 16 sq Everything on it is fondant with the exception of the polka dot bows on each side of the dress. This cake was super heavy because it had two pounds of pecans in the cream cheese filling! This is my first belly cake too.

Here's the cake with the infamous daffodils. I couldn't get the frilly part down at first, but I think I got better as I went along. Thanks to those who offered opinions. Bottom cake is choc with choc pudding/oreo filling. Belly cake is yellow cake. I figured out that adding vanilla flavored creamer to the bc siginificantly cuts down on the sweetness.
Anyway....I'm glad this one's done!

My husband and kids made this for me for mother's day. Not sure if it will be a boy or a girl yet- so half pink and half blue. It says "I made you do it" along the bottom because "Babymademedoit" is my catch-all excuse for getting junkfood etc. Note that i am hiding food under my belly. An apple and some cashews ;).
