I made this last weekend for my daughters 4th birthday. The bottom layer was chocolate with cherry filing and the top was a white cake with sprinkles in the mix. All iced with BC. I was up very late into the night trying to get it done so I see all the flaws the lack of sleep caused!

This was my first doll cake, first ust of fondant (we used a recipe from cc and it turned out fabulous!), and first try at making drop flowers with royal icing. She turned out great if I do say so myself!! :-) She's for my niece's 3rd birthday.

My first attempt at a Barbie cake. I used a Disney Princess Aeriel doll instead since the birthday girl had red hair.

I made this one for my daughter's 5th birthday party. She wasn't specific on what she wanted, so she got a pink cake, her favorite color, with her favorite Barbie ornament on top of it. Can't get any easier than that! :)

Thanks kats0916, your doll cake inspired me, I hope you don't mind the similarities. This is a fudge marble cake with buttercream and a little pearl dust, I did this for my daughter's 2nd bday.

I had to make 2 doll cakes for my niece and here's the first one. I thought she turned out pretty good seeing that I don't like to use MMF even on kids cakes. Choc cake, BC filling and icing, royal icing drop flowers. Bodice is MMF. It was huge hit at her kids party.

Here is my niece's princess cake #2. Sorry about the shadow but this pic showed the detail better. Yellow cake with BC filling and icing, royal icing details and straps, MMF bodice. This one almost sent me over the edge because I had to use a real barbie and when I put her in she busted out the top part of the cake, luckily icing is a great problem solver!! Also, not sure I like baking these. They took forever & the outer part was a little overdone which bummed me out. Luckily it still tasted good.

Barbie's gown, train, crown and hem bead trimming are made with MMF. Her bow, veil and bouquet (with miniture cloth roses and pearls) are tulle. Barbie's gown and crown are dusted with Super Pearl for shine and Disco Dust for sparkle.

I am new at the cake decorating, but I love trying.
My favorite part was the spray on food coloing. It can cover and hide imperfections.

I had made one similar to this before so my daughter decided that is what she wanted for her birthday. It may be my last attempt at molding an entire doll for a cake. I can't seem to get it. I used candy clay on this one which I really liked working with. I am just not good with faces. She wanted almond poppyseed with strawberry filling, so I at least know it will taste good.

Well, this was my attempt at the Barbie Princess Genevieve. I used MMF for the face, arms and legs. Getting that beautiful Barbie face was harder than I thought. Buttercream is used for other decorations. Gold dragees are used to make crown and accent waistline.

Closeup of details - my mom and I spent all day 'dressing' these little princesses. We both love to sew and had lots of ideas... some of them look a little bridesmaid-y and others look like they are from my prom!!
