My friend/bday girl is not a big cake fan but loves banana bread. So I made a resemblence of the Banana Spice cake from the "Birthday Cakes" book. In the middle was a sweet and rich creme. I drizzled caramel on the top and the sides. It wasn't a typical cake, but man was it sweet and delicious!

I made this cake for my sister's baby shower. They are doing the baby boy's nursery with a safari theme, so I based the entire shower off that idea. The cake is filled with the absolutely scrumptious whipped chocolate ganache filling from this website, and covered in MMF. All the animals and the trees are made by hand out of chocolate clay; the grass and water are buttercream.

A birthday cake for a 2 yr old boy. It was a yellow cake with chocolate and vanilla frosting. The mother, a friend of mine, baked the cake parts herself and chose the icing (store-bought) to accommodate her children who have food allergies. I carved and assembled the cake then decorated it. I had a lot of fun with this one, probably because one of the children in the family is my goddaughter, so I really felt like I was decorating this cake with love!

Baby Shower cake for my sister-in-law. Top tier is chocolate cake and bottom is white. BC icing. The monkey's swinging from the vines and swirls coming out of the top are chocolate candy melts. The bananas are runts. I dipped the columns and sperator plates in chocolate too. This cake was a lot of fun to do.

I posted George earlier. I am not sure he really looks like George but I think he is a kinda cute monkey. He is sittiing with a giant banana which is the cake, banana, chocolate frosting and banana MMF. First time messing with an airbrush so it was a learning process. Hopefully I will catch on quick. the bottom cake is banana also with BC just in case someone doesn't want Chocolate. Love to here what you think. Thanks for looking.Oh and George is a rice krispie treat.

My daughter designed this cake for me to do for her birthday. I think we make a good team! I've come a long way since last year (see my photo album). I modeled all of the figures out of fondant (I got wonderful ideas for these from the cc gallery). At the last minute I decided to do the "Happy Birthday Katherine" message in chocolate transfer. I've been experimenting with this method alot recently. This cake was loads of fun to make!

I got a request for this for a shower b/c that is the baby's room theme. I needed to make it so it could be transported a long distance so I thought this would be a cute baby design and would transport well. I think I got it to look more like George this time, now I have my proportions off. One more try, maybe I will get it. ;-) George is a rice krispie treat and the banana is the cake.

This is fondant fruit for a picnic basket cake I am making for the county fair this weekend. The pie is going to have red piping gel and a lattice crust, but I haven't gotten to it just yet.

This was my son's first birthday cake (he had a separate smash cake). The monkey is made out of chocolate clay and the bananas are Runts. Frosted in buttercream with chocolate clay accents. This was both my first stacked cake (bottom is 2 8x3 layers and top is 4 inch) and my first sculpted figure...it was so fun!

I made this recipe up doctoring a DC banana layer cake. I added an extra egg, vanilla pudding, fresh smashed bananas and chopped pecans and chocolate chips. The glaze is a fudge candy recipe of my grandmothers that you pour over and let harden. I finished it with more pecans and a cascade of buttercream rosebuds. Hubby and BroInLaw devoured it!
