Saw the banana split cakes done by agagnier and merissa, and thought they might make a good 3D two sided cookie arrangement. This was made for one of my grand-daughter's birthday. Ran out of time so didn't get all the details done that I usually do. Hand cut no-fail cookies with RI and a chocolate dipped spoon. Thanks for looking. And thank you agagnier and merissa for the inspiration.

This is another cake I did for my son's boy scout cake auction. This is the 2nd time I have made this cake. Originally I was inspired by ellepal's design. A fun and easy cake to make! The cake went for $51 at the auction for the boy scouts!

Made this cake for a friend. She loves sock monkies. I decied to do them brown, instead of the traditional gray. The monkies are having a game of marbles. Cake is chocolate with bavarian cream filling, covered in BC. Monkies and bananas were made with fondant/gumpaste and all other accents made from fondant. She really liked it. Thanks for looking.

I used an oval cake pan. I had extra cupcake batter and I wanted to try something. Chocolate icing with chopped bananas was used to fill and frost the cake. Then I added Cool Whip and decorations.

This is a banana cake with mango curd filling, mango buttercream frosting and chocolate fondant. Flowers are a fondant/gumpaste mix. It looked not too bad before I wrote on it. (Note to self: do not drink 3 cups of coffee and then write on cakes! LOL!)

I had to try this cake after seeing several here on Cake Central! It was so much fun and a lot easiaer than I thought. It was my first time working with any sort of fondant. I'm not an artist and I don't sculpt anything so I was happy that my money actually turned out looking like a monkey!

My first try at Lorraine's (Aine2) "cheeky monkey" cupcake toppers. Thank you Lorraine! You give great instructions, I usually suck at modeling but this wasn't too bad. ;-) Pretty easy to do. Did this for my nephew's 1st birthday.

I've been just waiting for an excuse to make this cake, that I've long admired on this site. Chocolate-chocolate chip sour cream cake with buttercream. Yellow coloured bananas are banana flavoured fondant, painted with brown food colouring. Monkey is chocolate fondant.

I made this cake for my son's first birthday. It was my first attempt at a tiered cake as well as my first time making and using IMBC. The buttercream was fantastic, and I will use it from here on out. Yum! Top layer was chocolate with Oreo buttercream filling. Bottom was WASC with raspberry filling. Monkeys and accents were 50/50 fondant and gumpaste. I am very new at cake decorating (5th cake), and I would GREATLY appreciate any constructive criticism....it is the best way to learn! Thanks for looking!

This was the topper to my son's birthday cake. It is my version of the banana pile cake. I am not sure who was the original designer was since there are quite a few on this site. All accents were made from fondant/gum paste. Thanks for looking.

Curious George is flying high with balloons. You can't see them in the picture though. I tied 3 balloons together to one of my hair sticks (I washed it) and slid it in the cake at an angle to add a 3D affect. The sides of the cake have banana trees on them. These are 2 10'' white cakes.

Buttercream frosting, fondant accents. Animals are styrofoam covered in fondant. Giraffe and leopard pattern idea came from my last jungle cake. Not sure if you can tell, but little boy is dressed in a bear costume. TFL.

Thanks to everyone for their inspiration on their cakes! Special thanks to Marissa for her help and advice for me! This is all cake! The boat is covered in fondant the rest is whipped buttercream. The cherries, banana, and the board are all fondant. This cake was soo much fun to do. Oh, and I used the hexagon pan for the boat and the mini wonder molds for the ice cream. I really love how this turned out. I am Critique Subgroup Member, all comments welcome! :D
