Baby shower cake I made for a friend. I started out trying to cover the blocks in fondant, but it was too heavy and collapsed the cake. I started over and used buttercream icing with fondant decorations. She loved it!

chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream, decorated in mmf. Most characters done freehand, except the star and the body of the bear, I used cookie cutters. This was a difficult cake to do and I am amazed at how some of you ladies create your cakes so perfectly. Thanks to annieH for your tips. This was done for my son's first birthday.

I've done this same design a couple times each one just slightly different (colors, etc.)
This one however I am most proud of because of how long it took me to do. I went out with my bf for her birthday last night and didn't get home until 12:30 a.m. at which point I mixed up the cake batter and put it in the oven, then made mmf and rice krispie treats (for the blocks) torted the cake, filled it, decorated the cake and all the blocks (inc. handpainted hearts with stitching on all 4 sides) all by 3:30 am!

Made by my 16 year old sis and I. We started running really tight on time so our edges on our blocks got sloppy and makes them look all uneven.

Chocolate, Carrot, and spice cakes were covered/decorated in MMF. The babies were molded by hand with MMF. These were time consumig but enjoyable. I wished I would have made the "blocks" a little taller. Thanks to all the CCers that posted their blocks you were a great insperation. I welcome all comments...thanks for looking :-)
