This cake was inspired by the Wilton Tiered Cakes book, except this is iced in buttercream with buttercream clouds. Ark and rainbow are cardboard covered with fondant, and animals are hand-sculpted from fondant. I made the animals' eyes tear-drop shaped so they looked like Precious Moments figurines since the baby's nursery is Precious Moments.

Here's my attempt/version of the Noah's ark baby shower cake I made for a shower last weekend. I don't have the oval pan set or the football pan, so I just used rectangle cakes for the base, and small oval pans for the boat base, stacked and cut to shape. I made the animals with royal icing. What fun! :)

I made this for a baby shower. All the decorations are fondant. The animals on the bottom are "floating", I guess they missed the boat! :)

Birthday cake, first paying customer since I've been back in Oz. Two teir, double layer, brownie cake with chocolate buttercream layers and covering. Flake's used as outer layer. Animals all hand made from fondant and or gumpaste. Very excited to do this cake as the animals were great fun to practice and do.
Huge thankyou to socake for this order as she was away on holiday and couldn't do it.

This Debbie Brown inspired cake was my most challenging so far. Made for a church baby shower to raise money for new equipment and supplies - it was by far my most successful venture into the world of fondant.

OK, I stole this cake directly out of a Wilton book - but it really fit the baby shower theme and mom - she's a minister. I really wanted to practice sculpting figures out of gumpaste and I figured this one would give me some practice. I was about 85% happy with how it came out, but as we all know, practice makes perfect. It's a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling.

White cake with cream cheese frosting and strawberry filling. Chocolate MMF on top. MMF animals, graham cracker house on top. This was more difficult than I would have liked, my MMF got hard and had to apply it in sections instead of at once... oh well live and learn! Tasted yummy anyway!

My second cake. I didn't get a final assembled shot because I transported it without the animals attached. My chocolate frosting was a bit runny, but otherwise I was pleased. The animals were chocolate transfers ... which I had lots of practice with since my 3 year old kept eating them! I made the ark out of an 8" round cake cut in half and also trimmed the bottom cake from a 9x13.

This is supposed to be a Noah's Ark bouquet, but I couldn't find an ark cookie cutter, I'm still fairly pleased with how it came out though. NFSC with Alice's cookie icing.

All of the cake is made out of mmf with mmf animals. I've learned to allow for a little more time when decorating this cake. :) I really had fun with this one and thought it turned out quite cute!

The actual ark is a piggy bank. The rainbow, however, is fondant.
The cake itself is a butter recipe, iced with cream cheese icing.

Close up of all the animals on Noah's Ark cake. Animals were made out of marshmallow fondant and placed on lollipop sticks. They were a lot of fun to make. Thanks for looking.

My mom's co-worker's daughter s having a baby shower. I was gonna make the ark out of cake, but then my mom informed me it was a freebie. Too much work for someone I don't know, lol. I think it turned out nice.

It's been a while since I've decorated a cake, so I really actually enjoyed making this one! A friend requested a cake for her son's 1st birthday...and since his name is Noah -- what other theme would be better suited than "Noah's Ark"?! It was a chocolate 12 inch two layer cake filled with ganache, covered with MMF and graham crumbs. Accents were MMF and bc. I also made a smash cake for the celebrant.

This is my first attempt at figure modeling and at cake carving. I need to find a denser cake, you can see in some of the pictures that the cake got weighed down and buckeled some of the planks. It is a vanilla caramel cake with vanilla caramel buttercream and either chocolate or vanilla caramel fondant. Yeah, ended up being a little overdone with the flavoring. For a baby shower I had less than a week's notice of, but everyone loved it!
