This is my first display cake. I am using it for my first public display for a raffle.. I was inspired by some really cute fabric I found online and a cake by Kate Sullivan of Lovin Sullivan Cakes. Groovy Baby!

WASC cake with bc icing and hershey kiss based roses. Made this for my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. The topper is wire covered in fondant, it was last minute because I couldn't find anything for 60 so I improvised. TFL

FBCT flower. Can't tell from the pic, but I airbrushed a tie-dye effect all over. Not how I wanted it to look, but the recipient was pleased.

This was made for a very dear friend who has a great sense of humor. I always give him a hard time because I am a good bit younger (ha ha ha). The writing is intentionally messy so that I could write "old man" and scratch it out (I had to get that in there lol). The cake is white cake with all buttercream except the "60's" are white chocolate. The glasses are real reading glasses from the dollar store. Everybody got a good laugh about me picking on his age.

I'm proud of this one : )
Thanks to tutugirl for the idea.
First time using chocolate fondant and first time successfully making RED fondant!!!!!
I didn't have enough money to buy gum paste mix so I made the "P" out of fondant. I was so worried it would bend or fall apart I redid it with a wire skeleton.
I loved making this one though, I felt like I was painting a canvas.

Can you guess how old they are? This was supposed to be a tiered cake, but sort of morphed into whimsical as the construction evolved.

This was my most favorite creation! The cake is covered in fondant and the decorations were made with royal icing. The peace signs were also made with royal icing, dried, then painted with color spray.

Newspaper cake that I'm not real pleased with. Guess I was being lazy and rushing to get it done. Mat turned out okay though. Just a single layer cake (white with vanilla caramel flavoring in it). My writing is terrible, and this was my first time using edible transfers, but I had fun making it!

60th "Diamond" Anniversary cake for a co-worker's parents.
The white flowers are edelweiss flowers (the flowers are actually fuzzy in real life). Gumpaste, hand molded and "fluffed" with icing sugar.
French Vanilla cake, raspberry buttercream filling. Peach rolled fondant.

This was a 60th birthday cake for my mother in law who I decided to be kind to and stay off the 60 theme! It was a custard sponge with a custard buttercream icing, and it tasted nicer than it looked in the end! I decorated it with a box of chocolates which was very easy but looked quite good.

The tie dye was easier than I was expecting it be and I really got the hang of it when I was finished! Flag on top with peace symbol of dragee stars. Customer wanted the cake to make the invitations. Other than my flag falling off my skewer flag pole, it turned out ok. TFL!

done for twin ladies, hence the M&M. I guess they've gotten a lot of kidding about that over the years. White cake with antique ivory colored buttercream icing. Fondant ribbons and ribbon roses, gumpaste "60" and "M&M", and buttercream piping.

For some reason I had FBCT stuck in my head for the label (what was I smokin, sheesh lol). Some time at 6AM I clued in to use fondant lol. I wanted to get fancier with the label but got the order last minute. Bday 'boy' loves lemon meringue so I made a cake (Scott Bieber, foodandwine.com). TG fondant (I just love that stuff!). Bottle: foil mold around real wine bottle, poured in batter (easy process). Gold dust/vodka sheen, writing done with black food colour. Everyone loved the cake (yummy recipe too)

The cake was created for a 60's/70's Hippie wedding. Everything was Tie Dye, Lava Lamps, black light. Really great wedding! This is fondant which I "tie Dyed". The ribbon is just craft ribbon & the Astors are silks. The cake was lemon w/lemon filling and light lemony butter cream icing under the fondant. Groovy Man!
