Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Icing last edited on 11/5/09
Posted by MrsJenn This icing/frosting is rich and yummy and is better served at room temperature. Once chilled it becomes hard and fudge like. It is a great base for black icing for decorating, the strong fudge flavor over powers the black paste coloring. Ingredients 1/2 Cup Margarine, softened 1/2 Cup +1 Tbls Vegetable Shortening 5 Cups 10X Powdered Sugar 1 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips (Ghirardelli is my preference) 1 1/2 Tsp Vanilla 4 Tbls Milk Instructions Mix margarine and 1/2 cup shortening until blended. No Cook Dark Fudge Icing last edited on 2/11/10
Posted by dimensionsincake I discovered this recipe by accident! While making chocolate rolled buttercream, I noticed that before I finished adding all the sugar called for in the recipe, it looked like a rich, dark fudge icing. So I decided to try it, and it works beautifully. So easy, too, because there is not cooking! Ingredients 1 c. Crisco 1 c. corn syrup 1/2 tsp. fine-grain salt 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3/4 - 1 c. cocoa 8 drops butter flavor 1 lb. powdered sugar 2-3 tbsp. water Instructions Cream first six ingredients together in Kitchen Aid mixer. Add sugar...

chocolate cream cheese buttercream icing last edited on 4/30/10
Posted by BarbieAnnPlaysWithHerFOOD I wanted a buttercream that was a little less sugary and buttery that could be used to ice the outside of the cake but also be used as a good filling and this is what I came up with. I use this frequently with the triple chocolate fudge cake ( recipe that I found here on cake central ) for a super decadent chocolate cake. Ingredients 2 cups :confectioners sugar 1 cup: cocoa powder 8 oz. (2 cubes ) : unsalted butter softened to room temp. 4 oz. cream cheese softened to room temp. 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream* ( you can add less or...

"Semi-Homemade" Nutella Icing last edited on 5/21/10
Posted by Janine406 I was very short on time and literally whipped some things together, but it came out great! Very simple, but its very very yummy. Spreads on the cake better than buttercream does - has a great consistency. Ingredients 1 Can of Fluffy White Icing About 4 Tbsp of Nutella Instructions Beat together in mixer! Ta-da all done. The taste of nutella isn't overwhelming. Add more if you want intense chocolate-hazelnut flavor. I was able to generously ice a 2-layer 8" cake with this amount.

Perfect Crusting Chocolate Buttercream last edited on 6/22/10
Posted by CakeInfatuation Have tried several chocolate buttercream recipes and haven't been sold on any of them... Maybe because I'm not a big fan of buttercream in general... anyway, had to make a last minute cake with chocolate buttercream filling and icing... so I just started throwing things in the mixer. It turned out beautifully and my family is now eating the icing by the spoonful. Add 1/2 cup of peanut butter and you have an amazing chocolate peanut butter icing or filling... If using as a filling, chop up some peanut butter cups and sprinkle on top of the filling once you've put it...

Buttercream frosting last edited on 10/28/10
Posted by cakemaker1015 This is a good creamy recipe that tastes great too! It is stiff so you can make flowers and decorate cakes with it, but it won't have enough crisco to get that greasy feeling in your mouth. If it is to thick to spread (It souldn't be) you can add a bit of milk, just a little bit, and mix that in, or you could microwave it for just a few seconds! don't microwave it to long! Oh! It also takes colors very well, and it is pretty white Ingredients 1 stick- unsalted butter, room temp. 1 and 2/3 cups- powder sugar about 1/3 (can add more to make it more stiff)...

Marshmallow Fondant last edited on 2/24/11
Posted by WillowWend This is the easiest fondant recipe I've ever used. The fondant has an elastic-like quality, which makes stretching without tearing very easy. The marshmallow flavor is a favorite, especially with the kids. Ingredients *1-16oz. bag mini marshmallows 2 Tbsp. water - more if necessary 2 lbs. powdered sugar 1/4 c. shortening *NOTE: If you can't find a 16 oz. bag, you can reduce your sugar by approx. 1/4 Instructions Combine marshmallows and water. Microwave on high approx. 45 seconds. Mix well. If marshmallows aren't completely melted, return to...

Perfect White Chocolate Ganache Frosting Perfected last edited on 4/4/11

Ingredients 1. 3 cups of white chocolate chips (either Hershey's, Nestle's, or the larger candy melts) DO NOT SUBSTITUTE WITH ALMOND BARK. This is a big mistake....I know..I tried it. Do not use shaved baker's chocolate...

All butter American buttercream last edited on 6/8/11
Posted by megpi This recipe took a bit of trial and error working, so it's kind of my baby, but I don't mind sharing. It's all butter and holds very well, but I make mine a touch salty to contrast the sweet, so depending on your taste you might want to cut back on the salt. Part of the recipe is by weight, but I've had good luck with the conversion chart at http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes2008/master-weight-chart.html Ingredients 12 oz unsalted butter, softened 1lb 6oz Powdered sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla 3/4 tsp salt 2 oz cream Instructions -Cream the...
