I got this idea from the whimsical bake house book.
All the pieces are made out of candy melts. I outlined the buildings first filled in with chocolate and let dry. Then I flipped the pieces over and gave them a 3-D look with more chocolate. The cake tastes as good as it looks!

A birthday cake made for a co-worker who's addicted to Yorks. I managed to make the frosting look like metallic foil by sprinkling a whole lot of luster dust through a strainer. I also added peppermint extract to the cake so it would taste the way it looked!

I made two cakes for the start of football season -- one for the NY Giants and one for the NY Jets. Being a Jets fan, it was tough to work on the Giants logo... but in the end, both cakes came out pretty good. All icing, including the logo, is done in BC. Thanks for looking :)

REPOSTING- When I uploaded this originally the comment field was not working. Comments Welcome.
Made this hat for a friends 30th birthday. He is a huge NY Yankees fan. Used sports ball and 6" round pan. Covered with marshmallow fondant. The only thing I was not satisifed with is the bill, it is not wide enough. 2nd picture to follow.

The couple living in NY: he is from NY and she lived in Hamburg, so the reception is held overhere. The bring both cities together, we decided to do the Statue of Liberty and crest of Hamburg, with the couple as the top. Cake is covered with fondant, petals are gumpaste and figurines are polymer clay.

I made this cake for a couple who ran the New York City Marathon when they got engaged. I laid out the course with the mile markers and special items that she remembered. The details are Staten Island Ferry, Tavern on the Green, Statue of Liberty Torch, Manhattan skyline, Ellis Island, Hudson river, and all 5 burroughs of New York. The second picture is another view.

Two cakes stacked and iced in buttercream. decorated with fondant stars. Skyscrapers are NFSC iced in Antonia's. Statue is made from gumpaste standing on fondant covered rice krispie base. This cake was fun to make, but the statue was more challenging than I planned!

This is just a simple cake for my husband's graduation from the NYS Corrections Training Academy. The logo is my first attempt at a chocolate transfer. After I had the transfer made, my son accidentally broke it so I had to try and piece it together. The picture was taken by one of my husband's classmates so it is not a full picture.

This was a novelty cake I was asked to do for a friend. I tried to experiment by putting a backdrop of New York skyline and also a sign post. The picture quality is really bad - sorry.

This 1/2 sheet was requested for a 13 year olds birthday party. He had recently returned from a trip to New York and wanted to have the old city skyline with the twin towers...this is what I came up with. He loved it.

I did this cake for my sister's bridal shower. the theme was New York/wedding colors. The wedding is being held at the restaurant that is near where you get the ferry to go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The star is yellow cake and the pedistal is chocolate cake. Both are covered in grey fondant. The piping is royal icing as well as the stuatue and the starburst behind it. The boats and stars are chocolate. The water is sky blue tinited piping gel.

This was a cake for my son's 13th birthday. He wanted a NY Yankees cake. The baseballs are also cake. It is all Funfetti with Buttercream Icing and filling. The Jerseys are Fondant. The flag is real (not edible) and the NY sign is a sticker. I was inspired by a cake I saw on this website (sorry...don't remember who did it) with NY and Red Socks. Thanks for the inspiration!!
