My husband loves The Wizard of OZ so this birthday I made him the emerald city. The base was a round lemon cake covered in green fondant. The city "buildings" were krispy treats that I cut out in pillar shapes and coverd in the green fondant. Cake board - royal frosting grass, fondant yellow brick road (painted with yello luster dust), poppies mad from gumpast. Everyone loved it especially my husband!

This was the main cake for my daughter's 5th day. Also had a rainbow cake like the one from Wilton Course 1. She absolutely loved it. One of my first cakes.

This too was for my daughter's 5th bday. (her actual bday, not the family/friend party one) I made the mistake of asking her what she wanted and of course she wanted Dorothy and Toto, much to my chagrin! At any rate, it turned out pretty well. Cake was strawberry w/white chocolate filling and white choc. frosting

Here is my first STRANGER cake!! It was for her daughter's 4th birthday! All they knew is they wanted Wizard of Oz theme and the top tier had to be pink! She also brought the plastic character figures (thank goodness!). Cake is covered in BC, accents, road, etc. are fondant.
This was a giant pain but I think it turned out great! And of course I couldn't have done it all without missmersh!!!!!
I was going to make ruby slippers then I realized I didn't have room!! Thanks to those who tried to help w/that!!

This was a companion cake I made for my daughter's 5th bday which was a Wizard of Oz themed bday. Lemon cake w/lemon filling and a hint of lemon in the frosting. Sounds like a bit much lemon, but was delicious!

This is the cake I made for my daughter's 6th birthday. She had a Harry Potter theme. It was my first attempt at using fondant. It didn't come out like the picture in the book I was referencing, but she adored it!

I have started working with an Event Organizer who does Fairy and Wizard parties. I have to come up with a few ideas and thought this would be a good "simple" cake. It's the first time I tried MMF and I will never do that again. Wiltons fondant taste bad but is a lot easier for me to work with. I only covered the cake in the MMF - the wizard is from Wilton fondant. I do mix it with som gum t.

Again a fantasy wedding cake and the couple choose to be a knight and a female wizard, fighting against a dragon. Cake is covered with fondant and the stones, leaves and "trees" are made from fondant, too. All figures are made form polymer clay and the eyes from the wizard and the dragon are Swarovski Kristalls. The "sky" is blue luster dust with a little bit of black, painted with a sponge.

Made this cake for a birthday party. On one side I wrote "I'll get you my pretty" and the other I wrote "There's no place like home". The "Emerald City" is melted jolly ranchers.

This entire cake was done in buttercream, with the exception of the poppies that were made with royal icing. The ruby slippers are made using the Wilton Ballet Slippers pan and pillars were used to make them look like they had heals.

Red velvet cake with crusting cream cheese icing and fondant accents. Found the wizard pan at a thrift shop for $2 and had to make it for my dad who loves this kind of thing. The magic ball was made with the insert from my bake and fill pans and covered in marbled fondant. Thanks for looking.

I made this cake for my brother who collects dragons. The dragon and the wizard are made from MMF. The path was made with MMF, and imprinted with a hexagon cookie cutter to look like slate. The trees are plastic dowels covered in MMF with BC leaves on floral wire. I hade a good time making this, and my brother loved it!

My son wanted a Harry Potter birthday party a couple of years ago. I decided to make a wizard hat. I made the template for it myself. I was a little pressed for time, so the lettering at the bottom isn't great. I also made the "wizard's hats" in the background. Party hats with starry material glued on them.

Baked in a bowl, and shaped the top with rice krispies treats. It's supposed to have an old look to it with the "patch"

I wanted to go with a wizard theme. The frog, pumpkins, vines, leaves, book, wand and cauldron are made of marzapan. This is the first time I have worked with marzapan and fondant. The eyes are fondant.

This cake design was inspired by a couple of gorgeous basketball cakes on here. Strawberry cheesecake cake w/cheesecake pudding filling, bc icing, mmf covered basketball and accents. First time covering anything in fondant...WHY did I choose a ball pan?!

This is for my brother's 11th birthday; he's a huge Wizards fan, and Arenas is his favorite player. Can't wait to see his face tomorrow!

This is a Wizard of Oz cake I made for my daughter's 5th birthday. The top tier is yellow cake with strawberry mousse filling and the bottom is chocolate cake with cookies and cream filling. The Emerald City and witch legs are fondant (first time using!), the flowers are royal icing and the rainbow is chocolate. It was super fun to make. I got a lot of inspiration from this site. Thanks for looking!

Took inspiration from all cakes on this site and used aspects of all of them. All bc except emerald city and of course figure. Emerald City is white choc w/ luster dust. Have a few painted sucker sticks for axe and wand. Four tiers, all chocolate for three year old's birthday.

Just wanted to post my take on a wizard of oz cake. I made this cake for my birthday;-) It has three things I like "the wizard of oz", "skittles", and "Barbie!" I ran out of fondant for Toto, but I found a cute pic of him, so I stuck it in the basket;-)
