This is the right photo, I hope. I made this cake a few years ago when the basket weave cake was really popular. This cake was four tiers and each tier was a different flavor. I arranged the fresh flower topper also.

I have made so many of these cakes. Everyone that sees them, falls in love with them and orders one from me. All flowers are made from royal icing. This is really an easy cake to make and a big seller for me!

This is my first attempt at the basket weave. I messed up on the back because I did not know how to end it, but you really couldn't tell unless your an expert cake decorator. My friends were really happy with it.

This was patterned after one I saw on CC or another site. The color is really a hot pink for a girl instead of red!

This is a vanilla cake with chocolate bavarian cream filing. The design is based on one of the Wilton Course cakes. Some of the flowers are fondant, some buttercream.

I did this for a family get together. I used cookie cutters to make outline the animals and eggs, then used star technique to fill in. I added jelly beans in the "grass"

Just a top view of Variation on the Course II Finale cake. Basket weave was so much fun to do. Took a little time, but I got it... And the FLOWERS! ARGH! I was pulling my hair out with the Royal Icing.. but I finally calmed down, and Look.. they came out good. Cake is just classic yellow, buttercream beasket weave.

I tried to go easy on the frosting...and on the calories too. One thing I really liked is the color scheme.

This is SOOO much easier than it looks. I took classes at Michael's in Orlando, FL and I think this is one of the easiest things I learned to do, besides making roses.

EVERYTHING is eatable. The fence and flowers were fairly easy to make, just a bit time consuming, or I should say, I didn't really have much time to focus on it as I would have liked.

First time using Betty Crocker Bakenfill Pan Set, I love it!
The cake is a yellow cake, the center cavity is filled with Chocolate Pudding & Whip Cream folded together. Then a small layer of whip cream ontop of it. The frosting is Creamy Chocolate Buttercream. Basket weave.
Thanks For Looking :)

I figured out basket weaving yesterday and made this cake. I didn't do too bad for my first time. I also tried roses for the first time, and they didn't quite come out looking like roses, but you can tell they are flowers. The cake is White with a Strawberry Preserve filling and buttercream icing.

I had no problem with creating the basket weave on my cake. However, I learned the importance of making my roses in advance! I had a tough time putting them on the cake without ruining them. The cascading roses were the hardest to apply! They eventually started to fall off the side of the cake! Luckily, I got my pictures before this happened!

This was the end product of my Course 2 Wilton cake class. I don't think I did that bad for a first timer! All flowers are made with royal icing. The birds are made of color flow and the basket weave and borders are made of butter cream.

I haven't worked w/ buttercream as decor or molding chocolate.(addicted to fondant) Wanted to try basketweaving and the viva method. Went pretty well. Had a hard tome glueing flowers on. Flowers were tricky being chocolate and all. Tastes soooo much better than fondant. Any comments for improvement Welcome. :)
