I went to my first Wilton class this week and decided to go ahead and make a cake! It's not perfect but I'm pretty happy with it. I wish I had positioned the butterflies differently, but live and learn! I used Viva and a hot spatula to smooth the BC and used a small star tip to fill in the butterflies and to do the stars at the bottom.

This is a white and dark chocolate fudge half-sheet filled with Bavarian creme. It is covered in pale purple buttercream with gold and darker purple buttercream decorations and gold dragees. Thank you to "mcginnis" for the inspiration!

A little crooked and I am sure I'll do a better job on the vertical tip #47 next time! Did not get the cake in the center of the cake plate either:)

White cake with buttercream icing. Violet's mom wanted a violet theme for her first birthday . This was my violet sculpted from a second cake I had frozen for easier sculpting. I just used a googled search for violet pictures enlarged one and used it for a pattern.

Butter pecan 8" round cake with buttercream frosting and royal icing leaves and violets. Got the idea from Wilton 2 class book. I just love the cake in there but thought the oval would be too small for the servings needed.

Wedding Shower Cake for my future DIL. Violet Fondant with brushed embroidery BC icing work. Fresh Flower Topper A LOT bigger than I ordered made, I think it would have looked a lot better with the smaller topper.

Lid lifts off To reveal a surprise - a gumpaste orchid. She does not know the sex of the baby so I did the cake in pink and blue.

Just a small cake for a friend who just had a baby. It was my first time with ganache and I don't mind that it's not perfectly smooth, but I'd like a little more smooth than this. My border is stinky, but I was piping with mousse (in Florida) and my body temp is just too hot for anything to hold up. Despite all that, I like it! I think it's simple enough and I love the vibrant purple/yellow/green. Everything chocolate: cake, mousse, ganache.

The burgandy color see to be different in every room depending on lighting, so I decided to coat the petals in violet luster dust and the calyx in avocado. I'm not too happy with how they turned out, so I guess I will be practicing them until i have roses coming out of my ears!

Quick basketweave effect with violet buttercream flowers. This is my first order from a guy. I thought the message he requested for his wife was sweet.

Scratch chocolate cake, chocolate ganache filling, 7 minute frosting. I love the way this frosting smoothes on...but is really not user friendly for making decorations, it just pulls too much....probably would need to switch to buttercream for that....or just use fondant/gumpaste decorations...has a nice, not so sweet flavor.
