This was made for the family gathering following the funeral of this young man. He had been in Iraq for only a few weeks. It was my 1st and only attempt to make a flag cake.
It's a 9x13x2 sheet plus a small oval. Draped flag is fondant.

I made this cake for a staff party we attended this weekend. It was a barbeque and really didn't call for a four-tier cake but I couldn't resist the opportunity to make another cake!

I used the MMF recipe I found in the article section of Cake Central - it is soooo easy to make and work with. I will never buy fondant again! The cake was Betty Crocker's Rainbow mix, modified to make it dense and moist (and yummy! lol..). The icing is buttercream and MMF, both flavored with peppermint.

This cake was covered in buttercream, with fondant stripes. Red buttercream roses, and buttercream piped hearts. The inside was soft buttercake layered with chocolate buttercream.
I realy enjoyed making this cake, it's one of my favourites, i definetly don't make as many buttercream cakes as I'd like.

I am not 100% happy with this cake... I pictured it much better in my head! :) Anyway... it is for a co-worker who's only request was "fall colors" and didn't want the traditional flowers. It is all buttercream & the cake is 2 layers strawberry & vanilla w/ a strawberry/vanilla swirled filling. Thanks....

This was for a baby shower and the design was taken from the plates and napkins. Very light green BC frosting with fondant stripes, paisley-shaped pieces and bow. This was the only pic I could--memory was full and I have yet to learn how to delete pics on my new camera.

This was a pineapple cake with Rum Cream Cheese Frosting. It was wonderful. The person I made this for was very happy with the taste and the design. There's some goofs in there, but I think it turned out pretty good. Especially since I ended up making the rank free hand.

This is my first cake. It was for my daughters first birthday with the "pink poodle" theme. It is a chocolate and vanilla layered cake. 3 layers in each tier. I used fondant to cover, do the stripes, polka dots and dog bones. I used chocolate molds for the letters attached with pipe cleaners.

This cake was a nightmare to make, so many things went wrong with it, and it made me sick with worry because i didnt think it was going to make it to the reception in one piece. Not having the proper boards and dowels like the instructions in CC didnt help. The base cracked, the icing cracked, i had to take it apart twice and reassemble and patch it up!!!
I made the bride and groom a few weeks earlier out of gumpaste, at least I know already that the bride and groom liked those as I sent them a picture.

Firstly, I was completely inspired by the amazing original designer of the "Pink Whimsy" cake done by the company Sugar Creations. Unbelieveable!! I used the middle tier from that gorgeous cake and some of the design elements too.

Basically, I was happy to use up all the scrap bits of coloured fondant I have and the tiny flowers/butterflies etc from other projects. My first bow using fondant instead of gumpaste. I don't prefer it. I like the quick-drying gumpaste better I think.

My 2nd fondant cake. I auctioned it off and made about $15! It was a humid day and by the end of it, almost all the royal icing stars had fallen off! It was a lot of fun to make.

This cake was made to match the decoration of the party, i.e. napkins, roses etc. It is chocolate cake filled with raspberry mousse and whipped cream with toblerone chocolate.Covered in fondant, modelling and roses made of marzipan. In Denmark 18 year is a big thing as you can vote for parliament, get a drivers license, take out loans, move to your own apartement and other stuff related to the laws of the country.

This was made for my daughter and 2 of her friends who shared a party. Inspired by another cake from CC. The top cake lost some frosting just as I was getting ready to take the pic, so it looks a little funny. The girls loved it though.

This is my cake entry from the Mid-Atlantic Wedding Cake Contest. The theme was four seasons and you were allowed to pick only one season. The fisherman knit sweater was done by braiding spaghetti thin pieces of fondant. The Burberry plaid wasn't difficult just very time consuming.

This is a cake that I made for a coworker's anniversary. He wanted a cake to celebrate the anniversary of their first date. His wife wanted a wedding cake. This is what we came up with. It is chocolate with cherry filling, frosted with chocolate bc. The hearts are made from dark cocoa candies that I melted and shaped with a cookie cutter. The stripes on the sides are also dark chocolate.

I actually did this cake for a demonstration for classes. I came up with the idea from a cake in a book I just purchased, but I changed it up to do the whole cake in buttercream. I wanted to keep it simple enough so people wouldn't be intimidated by the design. The colors worked better than I thought they would!

German Chocolate cake w/chocolate mousse filling and BC. I've been wanting to play with my airbrush a little more, and this cake had no 'theme', so I decided to go with bright stripes. Thanks for looking!
