Trying out a stencil on crusted buttercream using buttercream for the design. The trick seems to be getting the right amount of frosting on the stencil. Too much and it pulls up with the stencil. Too little and it does not have much dimension. Still very pretty and it looks like you did a lot of work when you really did not.

really loved the colors. Cake is covered with fondant. Flowers are gum paste, drapping was made with a stencil on modeling past. Polymere couple is protected with a small plate, so it doesn´t touch the cake.

I made this cake for my anniversary this past Sunday. I used leftover red fondant and added CK sky blue (I didn't want a red cake) to get purple then added a little more CK purple to it to get this shade. This was the first time covering a cake entirely with fondant (got a wrinkle on the backside). Second time doing the brushed embroidery. Used a stencil on the side.

Buttercream Icing applied thru a stencil. This basic, quick design could be used for many love events: Valentine's Day, anniversary, engagement or even birthday.

6"white choc. cake w/ MMF. Used stencil to put words on cake..love this technique!! Used royal and then painted with luster dust and lemon extract. Callas are MMF. Ribbon was purchased. Cake is on candle stand. Royal icing stained ribbon in one area..what a bummer! This was a big first-timer for me..first lilies, first ribbon use and first stencil use :)
Thanks for looking!

Thinly rolled gum paste is pressed with a stencil and then colored using luster dust. Petals are cut, molded over the bowl of a soup spoon, and left to dry. A center is rolled. Petals are assembled in a bowl shaped piece of aluminum foil using royal icing. Time consuming, but fun and makes a lovely effect.

My 20 month old niece is about to become a big sister any day now. I'm making a Happy Birthday cake for the new baby and wanted my niece to have something special just for her. These are MMF covered sugar cookies. One is stenciled with luster dust and the other just has a fondant ribbon rose. I'm new to cookies and I was happy with how these turned out!

I did these for the Oct. cookie club thread which had a bug theme. I was goofing around to see if I could stencil cookies. These are NFSC with MMF and stenciled with Americolors diluted with vanilla. I did them just as you would a reg. stencil. I think with practice I could do ok with this technique.

I forgot it was my parents anniversary today...35th no less. So I decided to start baking last night, got up early decorate today. It is not my favorite cake, I think I was rushing a little so I made some mistakes. I tried the stenciling for the first time. I clearly need more practice. A bunch of the icing got underneath the stencil and i was a little disappointed. I think I need to take my time. But I definitely want to try it again!

This was inspired by someone on Cake Central, but I wasn't able to find her photo to give her credit. So whoever you are--thanks for the inspiration. These cookies were iced with Toba Garret's icing and stenciled with royal icing. The filler is red hot candies.

Here I am again practicing my heart out  I was at Walmart yesterday and bought stencil. I wanted to practice this technique. I'm just afraid I'm gonna make a boo-boo if I do it on the side of a cake. Hmmm....

Okay, obviously there's no theme to this cake  I just wanted to test my 12x18 pan and some other techniques. I believe I tried stencilling using buttercream, sotas, rubber stamping using gels and brush embroidery (which I suck in ). Anyways, the cake was still delicious even though there was no theme to it. I didn't want to let go of it until I was done practicing :D

On one of my mini cake making days, I created this. Covered with simple fondant, and then used icing colors and a paintbrush. I tried using a stencil of a dragonfly too. Not the best, but will try again.

This was a display cake! I did not make the flowers, it was my first time ordering gumpaste flowers and I wanted to play around with them. I did do the bow loops and ribbon with a patterned rolling pin and brushed with vanilla extract and luster dust. I used a stencil for the sides of the cakes with just a bit of pink color added to luster dust and vanilla extract and sponged onto sides!!

Just wanted to try the stencil technique. The cake is made out of 4 pound cakes bought from the dollar store. Didn't feel like baking LOL. Fondant is chocopan. Not bad for a practice cake. TFL!
