This was done by my 8 year old son for a chocolate art contest. He won best in show out of a dozen entries! He made SB in parts (eyes, hat, mouth, etc) and put the parts onto the sponge part to make it look 3-D.

This is a 1/2 sheet pan cut down about a 1/3 of the way for the body then I cut out the legs and shoes. I baked the cake and made all the icing the day before and it still took me 5+ hours to decorate. ( and I didn't think I was that slow..geez!)

okay, I cheated. The characters are figurines, but the rest is all mine! The pinapple top, seaweed, corral, and flowery shapes are royal icing. The rest is buttercream, and a sprinkle of brown sugar for the sand.

This wouldv'e turned out better if I'd drawn out the picture before I drew it on the cake. I still don't know how to transfer, but I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually. This is done freehand with buttercream frosting and a variety of tips.

This is a white cake with a banana mouse filling. I cut the sheet cake to make it look like a boat. Everything is iced with buttercream with some fondant accents, ie: arms, nose flag, plaque in the back. I got the idea from the Cake Corner web site, thanks! Thanks for looking!

These are standard round cupcakes. I used a large circle tip to create the square shape in buttercream. The face is all buttercream with "sponge dimples" made with a rounded dowel.

For some reason it didn't download the bottom part of his pants so I had to crop it... but you weren't missing anything, only more chocolate for his pants.

I would've put this under children's birthday cakes, but it was for my husband. He insisted on Spongebob for his birthday. This was my first shaped pan cake - a little more difficult than I anticipated but not bad.

Birthday cake I did freehand for my daughter's 10th birthday. For 2 years straight I had to do Spongebob because I always let her pick the theme and that is who she loved at the time.
