My first tiered cake! Not too happy about the background. I didn't have anything to put behind it, I set it up in the hotel kitchen and they weren't bringing the cake out until later so I had to take a picture right after set up. Gumpaste Calalilies (also a first for me).

This was my first 3-tiered cake and my first fondant bow! Everything is buttercream icing, except for the bow. I made this cake for my sister's sweet sixteen birthday party.

I looked every where for an idea for a sweet sixteen cake for my daughters birthday and couldn't find one so I just made this one up she doesn't like cake really so I made it out of a big brownie. I made a template out of cardboard and cut out the steering wheel shape. I covered it with tinted fondant-my first time using it.

Ok, here is my version of a 1997 chevy cougar! lol I know it looks sad as a cougar but the boy that received this for his birthday said he liked it and his little sister thought it was "awesome" so that made me feel so much better because I hated this cake at first! I used the super inhanced recipe from here with chocolate fudge cake mix

This was one of 3 for that day. 10" and 8". I took inspiration from mmccoog for the tie dye effect and smashcakes for the fondant loop and spirals. Actually, the birthday girl browsed the galleries and like both and want them combined. I did it the night before and as it sat overnight the back of the top sunk down and split . I almost cried but instead just filled it in with more frosting and colored it. Another cake I did that used the same buttercream batch also sunk so I think it was just too soft.

I did this cake for my daugher who was going to Europe that summer. We made the theme a travel (Spain/France) theme. Everyone brought gifts she could use on her trip.( photo albums, travel alarm clock, etc.) The flip flops are vanilla cake with licorice and BC icing. The brown suitcase (which I forgot to put the handle FACING the front, I put it towards the back, OOPS!) is chocolate cake with BC icing along with the BC stickers. The passport is yellow cake. All the cakes were filled with chocolate mousse.

I did this cake for a sweet 16 birthday party. My first topsy-turvy cake. I was TERRIFIED something was going to happen to it, like it was going to collapse once I left the party, but it didn't! I have learned several lessons for next time though (like put my borders on at the site). Bottom tier was chocolate cake with oreo filling, middle tier was yellow cake with dark chocolate raspberry ganache filling, top tier was yellow cake with lemon filling.

My niece helped me make this cake for her best friend's surprise Sweet 16 party. We were originally going to do the dot/harlequin/stripe pattern, but decided to go all-dots to match the invitations we made. Our only hitch was that we didn't use enough dowels, and as time went by the bottom two tiers began to collapse and the fondant bunched up. BUMMER! But it was still cute and her friend was happy and that's what it was about! :)

Wonder mold on top of a 9"x2 round cake, decapitated plastic doll pick, fondant dress and decorations. I made this for a Sweet Sixteen and learned lots. My DH decided to give it a silicone job which made it difficult for me to work with the bodice (which looks too long). I didn't push the doll pick in all the way and had problems with that also. Thanks God the girl LOVED it!

6", 8" and 10"X 3" pans used. Wilton initial, silk flowers with ivory ribbon and gold rope as a border. Thanks to my DH for the smooth look...he's the expert at home and loves the Viva towel method (yet to try the Melvira method). A couple of people asked if this was a fake cake because it looked so perfect. Thanks for looking!

It was my goddaugther sweet sixteen this week. She wanted an angelfood cake, decorated. So I made this. Fondant pink roses painted with gold luster dust, writing is black and painted with gold luster dust. And I added a purple see-through ribbon around the cake. I don't know how she liked it yet, she had a dinner with her friends and I wasn't invited. She's supposed to come over this week to see me, so I'll ask her.

I was asked to make grand cake for a sweet 16 birthday party. This is it. The cake is french vanilla and gold with buttercream frosting and fondant. The top ribbon is fondant with rhinestone-type jewels for a bit of sparkle. There are colored chocolate diamonds surrounding the top cake with a fabric ribbon The carriage is made of gum-paste and poured sugar. I used brass wire to hang candy jewels that I made.
I would just like to thank all the people here at CC who share their wonderful tips and ideas.

This is a cake I did for a Sweet 16 in October 2006. The polka dots being randomly placed makes the cake look crooked, but it wasn't. This was a 10", 8", & 6" white cake with buttercream icing. The accents are all MMF except for the ribbons on top and the ribbon around the bottom layer. Thanks for looking!
