This was a cake I made for my son's school for Reading is Fundamental. It was the first one I've ever done like this. The hat is rice crispy treats iced in BC, then wraped in fondant. Things 1 & 2 are Royal Icing. Thanks for looking.

this is my sons 2nd birthday cake. It was my first scratch cake, first time making and using fondant, first time making and using buttercream, first time torting and filling and carving. Yellow cake (colored green) filled with SMBC and Michele Foster fondant. The eggs are the candles, which I also made.
It didn't come out quite as I wanted but I did learn a lot. TFL

I've had the directions to try one of these cakes since 2007. Finally a friend asked if I would try one for her son's birthday. As a matter of fact, I made two. It was scary as I started, but was thrilled when done!

Customer wanted a Dr. Seuss cake and I wasn't sure of make the images from fondant so I used the edible images on fondant. This was my first attempt at this. I was very pleased with the turnout. This was really a fun cake. Bottom layer is chocolate fudge and top is vanilla with buttercream. All accents are fondant/gumpaste.

This is one of my most favorite cakes yet! It was for a Dr. Seuss themed baby shower. The m-2-b painted beautiful Dr. Seuss scenes all over the nursery, so it was neat to be able to do this for her. The bottom tier was directly inspires by auntiemcakes, and the top was inspired by many other cakes here on cc. I used my airbrush for a lot of the color, and a tiny paintbrush with black airbrush color for the details. It took about 4 hours just to decorate! TFL!

This was for a teacher at my kids' school. It was my first attempt at RKT (Thing 1, Thing 2, the hat, teapot, ball) and a few other "firsts" for me. I need practice with fondant - 'bout drove me crazy trying to cover these cakes! But it all came together and made it there in one piece!

This was a very short notice favor for a friend's daughter. Everything is fondant except the characters, since it was such short notice I just printed out images of the characters and placed them on the cake. The tops of the "specs" is cotton candy. TFL!

After much debate, I just decided to do the cake with regular icing, just adding it like ribbon. It was for three graduates. So instead of a man on top, I had three shooting stars bursting onward. Top is a icing covered funnel.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 - Black and white. This was done on fondant icing with black paste, freehand with a very small paint brush. Was not happy with this one after adding color in. Could have left it black and white and only put border on and the school probably would have been just as happy. Live and learn

I made this Seuss inspired cake for my son's first birthday. I had originally made 6 other characters - unfortunately they were all completely ruined because I stupidly stored them in the fridge for a few weeks. I was so busy with this huge wedding cake order the week before, I only had time to re-do the cat. :( Oh well, I still love how it turned out in the end!

This one is for my son's 1 year photo shoot! I've gotten some flack about how over the top this cake and his birthday cake were, but hey - I'm a cake decorator, what can you expect? This cake did end up being quite a bit larger than I planned - I would think it could feed about 7-10 people.
