I made this cake for my cousin's wedding. It was alternating layers of vanilla and chocolate cake, frosted completely in a soft pink buttercream. I accented the layers with black buttercream polka dots, and black satin ribbon and bows. For added texture, I covered the center layer completely with the star tip. I used 24 fresh pink roses to finish the cake. I like to call this my "Audrey Hepburn" cake, because it reminds me so much of the era. Thank you so much for looking at my cake.

This was a super small cake I made for my friends at an intimate gathering - it was a surprise. Chocolate cake with buttercream and strawberry filling and covered in tinted satin ice, flowers are painted with buttercream - I love that effect! I used the play dough fun factory for the rope - one of my favorite new cake toys!!

Ivory BC icing with white BC overpiping and a GP bow painted with super pearl dust mixed with vodka. The pearls are sugar dragees in graduated sizes, also dusted with dry super pearl dust. I used impression mats to form the quilting and the vertical lines on the sides. The satin base was made from instructions from Earlene Moore. It was a nice touch.

My first attempt was with homemade fondant made with marshmellows. I found the recipe here at CC.
We love Maui and just spent 9 days for our summer vacation. Our son than 11months old discovered sand...with his mouth. :o So that is the reason for the sand shoval made with gumpaste. And for the shirt well I guess it is obvious...we love Hawaii! :) I have been inspired with the show Ace of Cakes and I do have a background in creative endeavors. Oh and btw we really enjoyed working with the SATIN ICE fondant.

A friend asked me to do a three tiered square fontant wedding cake. I said yes, when I should have just ran away screaming. She is coming over tonight to do a "taste test" and so I made two mini cakes for her to try. One is two layers red velvet with Cream Cheese covered in Satin Ice. The second is one layer red velvet one layer white, with cream cheese and Satin Ice. She also wanted writing on the cake and a ribbon. The only ribbon I had was black and I freehanded one and used a stencil on the other.

This is my 3rd-3D-Fondant type of cake. Blame Duff of Ace of Cakes for this on going thrill of 3d cake design. I made this for a friend one day before the Super Bowl. This was more of a test cake rather than a show piece but I also had fun with it. Thanks Boleen for the link to the edible print out plaques. I actually applied the print directly to the satin ice blue fondant. Let's see how it looks tomorrow.

Thanks all!

FIRST WEDDING CAKE!!!! Whew, glad to be finished, it was quite a project! (Wish someone had warned me to stay simple on the first try-) Including a 2 tier grooms cake, there were five different cake and filling combinations, plus satin ice fondant. Small gumpaste decorations (ran out of time for more detail) , ribbon and real cala lillies and accent flowers. Used tailor cut 18" and 6" mdf boards, 2 floor flanges and a 1" wide 18" tall steel pipe for the center construction. Thin vase hold the top flowers.

This was my first time doing stringwork. I was pretty happy with that but still hate cornelli lace and I wasn't too happy with the scallops under it. Also my first try at satin stitch. It will be awhile to get to Toba's level;)

My DD needed a PI cake for Pi day at her school. So I made a white chocolate cake with buttercream dream french vanilla icing filled and coated with. Then topped with vanilla satin ice. The PI symbol is chocolate dusted with silver sparkle cc dusts. The ball border is satin ice vanilla black and white and the white is dusted with same dusts as chocolate symbol.

My first fondant cake ever. This was for my boyfriend's birthday. He's played the bassoon for over 10 years. It was 42 inches long (20% smaller than life-size). Used "Durable Cake for 3-D..." recipe w/ DH Dark Chocolate Fudge mix. Baked in 12x18 sheet cake pan, cut, and carved. Iced with Chocolate Syrup Frosting w/ McCormick Raspberry extract added. Covered in Satin Ice chocolate fondant; Nu Silver and Super Pearl luster dusts were mixed with vodka and painted on sculpted fondant pieces.

a square wedding cake, three layers with 90 real roses !!
The top cake had a strawberry filling, the middle one was a mocca flavoured cake with white chocolate filling and the cake at the bottom was a brown chocolate filled cake with pieces of chocolate.
The cakes were covered with sugarpaste and covered with a satin dust, the borders were made with icing.
The sides of each cake were decorated with little sugarpaste roses

The title pretty much says it all. The "monogram" on top is black color flow. The bows are real satin ribbon I made ahead of time. This rolled fondant cake was the least difficult so far. I had a plastic company make rolled fondant rings on which to roll out the fondant. It made transferring the fondant over the cake much easier!!!

Close up of a cake I did for my hubby's office. It is a piece of luggage filled with the stuff you're not supposed to pack. The cake is covered in Satin Ice (which I don't think I'll work with again) and the accent pieces are made of fondant. I don't know if I was more tickled over the prescription botte or the keys next to it.

This is one of two dummy cakes I made for an event I was asked to participate in. Josh Groban is performing tonight and a local radio station is doing a wedding theme in the VIP tent! I made cakes for tasting as well. This one was covered in ivory fondant, has white lace appliqués, fondant bow, gumpaste broach with fondant pearls. I topped it with a gumpaste lace "head piece". This was molded from lace appliqués formed over a small half ball pan. When it was dry, I added fondant pearls btwn connections.

Inspired by many decorators on this fabulous site!!
12" x 9" x 6" tiered round Devil's Food Chocolate with Raspberry filling cake. All decorations are fondant. First time to attempt the draping technique - Phew!! I need A LOT of practice! This didn't turn out quite like I wanted it to. Need to work on this!!!! But, the bride was happy, just the same. Thanks for looking!
