This is the faux fondant method using Crusted Buttercream II recipe from this site. The roses are real. I made this in Oct 04 for my niece. It's white cake with buttercream filling. I used the faux fondant technique and Crusted Buttercream II icing. (icing recipe and tecnique found on this site) I got a lot of comments from people about the icing not being as sweet sweet as they have on many wedding cakes and I have to agree. I love the icing method because it gives the smoothe elegant look many brides want and the great taste of a nice buttercream icing.

This graduation cake was a vanilla cake with pastry cream and strawberries inside. It is covered in whipped cream and has some airbrushed buttercream roses. The base of the graduation hat is cake and the top of the hat is a piece of foam board covered in tissue paper. The small purple flowers are royal icing as are the letters.

I just made a small 6" cake for my son to nibble on. These are my frozen BC roses. I think they came out great! At least better than what I used to do.

My first tiered cake. Push in pillars made that very easy! Chocolate Explosion Cake with whipped ganache filling (YUMMY!) and chocolate fudge frosting. Royal icing roses. Scroll work on the sides (first time doing that, too). I was trial running this flavor combo. for our future wedding cake, so decided to post it here. I learned a lot on this cake! Chocolate frosting warms up and thins out a lot in the bag as you decorate with it. Glad it turned out OK. Tastes good!

Okay, bare with me here. I am new to mmf I really like it alot especially that it's cheap to make!! Whoever thought up this idea is just brillant! I guess it'll take some pratice for me with covered the cakes with it. I had to put the roses all over the side like this because I had a huge wreck on the side (it ripped and rippled) This was my first time making the fondant roses too. I really need some pratice. I am not even real sure If I am doing it right or not.
