This was my entry for the Adult Decorated Cupcake division. Last minute because of my bushel of crabs cake dilema but happy with the way it turned out. I'll find out later today how I did!

This cake is for a friend of ours who loves ladybugs. This is a surprise for her birthday and I wanted something very simple.

4" and 6" stacked (no dowels so we'll see how it works!). French vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream. Ladybugs, ribbon roses and leaves are fondant. Thanks for looking!!

This was a cake I made for an auction. It's fondant covered with fondant ribbon roses. The design was not my own, I think it was designed by Sugar Creations. : )

Chocolate layer cake (from this site - YUM!), chocolate buttercream, bc piping, and mmf ribbon roses (love these flowers!). This cake was for my best friend's birthday. Had issues with it, however, I originally used chocolate syrup frosting and cookies and cream pudding filling but I had major overflow of the pudding, even tho' I did a damn with the frosting. I assume the chocolate syrup frosting is not stiff enough; I had to take the cake apart and put it back together with chocolate bc! Still learning!

This was my first attempt at fondant ribbon roses and a very last minute cake order. I had an hour to ice and decorate it. Everything is bc except the roses are MMF.

Another Sharon's Sugar Shack inspired, but done in chocolate!!

Iced in chocolate BC w/fondant decorations! Used the Wilton Chocolate BC recipe and it was pretty good. Was hoping for a 'darker' chocolate color though, but I may just need to add more chocolate squares or coco powder next time.

TFL!!

This is my daughter's First Birthday cake. The cream cheese icing was really hard to smooth. Otherwise I think it turned out OK.

One of the post-docs in my lab just recently had a baby boy and a grad student in my lab just got married back in March. Oour lab had a potluck party yesterday to celebrate many things - these 2 events included.

Cake is a vanilla sponge cake with bavarian creme and strawberry preserves as fillings and Pastry Pride to frost. Booties are fondant and ribbon roses are candy clay.

Our baker hurt his hand very badly in one of the machines 2 weeks ago and will not be able to bake for another 4-6 weeks minimum. His wife has been taking over the bakery and is really tired already. She bakes non stop from 3 am till 6 pm and I really mean non-stop. I wanted to show appreciation and made her this cake. Choc cake (good for the Nerves) with cranberryjamfilling, covered with choc. rolled Buttercream mixed with Fondant, ribbon roses and BC Leaves

This is a small, practice vertion of the wedding cake I'll be making soon. Not too happy with the color of the blue ribbon roses (not the right shade) but all in all a good out come considering this is the first time I have done the fondant swag and ribbon roses. Cake is with almond cake with French BC and MMF.

Cake made using their wedding colors. There is supposed to be a faint lace pattern on the top of the cake but I didn't press hard enough in some areas so it's not quite the effect I was hoping for.

I delivered this this morning (on my birthday!). My first real wedding cake. Cake for 200. Overall I was very pleased with the results. All buttercream, except the ribbon, which wasn't as dark as this picture shows. I am so excited to have had a success!

I had problems with my icing cracking and me messing up on the writing. I had to scratch off the name like 3 times butchering the icing. Hence, the red bow...

Three-tiered Surprise Anniversary/Birthday Cake. Stacked construction. Yellow cake iced in buttercream and covered with fondant. This was my first attempt at using the drape technique and making ribbon roses. I got part of this idea from another cake central user (their cake used shades of purple-thank you jumpstarting my brain). The couple loved the cake and I was reasonably pleased except for the buttercream borders that I had to put on at the last minute and in a hurry (the cake circles were showing

I am SOOOOO glad this wedding is over! (Seriously, I have 72 pages of emails in 6 months from this couple about exact colours/scrolls/sizing/stand/flavours. I wanted to change careers and become a mail carrier in the end!!)

Anyhoo, hope she's happy...or I'll have to get a new printer cartridge just to hear about it.
