My friend's little girl has been totally fascinated with dinosaurs since she was 4 years old. Today she turned 7, and her request was for a purple tyrannasaurus rex with yellow hair! She is definitely her own little person! LOL

I made this for my son. I made this the same time as Elmo. I was up until 4am doing both. Elmo wasn't done until about 15 minutes before we had to take everything out to the park.

This was a good job gone bad. It's cute, yes I know... but I thought that the chocolate fudge frosting under the violet would turn it greyer... it didn't. It was a pound cake recipe that a friend swore by, and since i was on a time crunch, I used it. ICK. The lady that got it had mixed emotions. Loved the look, hated the color. Hubby said "Does it roar too? It's awesome!" Never ever heard from them again. =((

I used the Wilton Dinosaur pan, but then changed the decorating design to make him a ferocious dinosaur, rather than the friendly looking one in the picture. He wanted T Rex...and T Rex is not friendly :). I haven't done a whole lot of cakes where I use different shades of the same color to achieve a specific look. I had fun doing this one. I took decorating styles from here and there so thanks to everyone who has done a cake like this :). Everyone LOVED it and it made me feel pretty good.

For my nephew who turned 6. Body is made from chocolate cake with cream filling, head made from RKT and legs, "arms" and tail made from fondant. Covered in white fondant and airbrushed first in mauve, then green and then brown and dusted with bronze luster dust. Eyes dusted yellow. Thanks to Jan and agagnier for their help and also to susanscakebabies for her inspirational cake posted last week.

I made this for my boyfriend's son... The cake itself is chocolate with chocolate buttercream frosting. The t-rex is made of Rice Krispie treats, molded into shape while still warm and covered in chocolate clay (my new favorite accent!). The sign and "5" rock are made of gumpaste and all decorations are chocolate clay.

Chris asked me several months ago to make a T-Rex cake for him for his tenth birthday. He wanted it to be eating a brontasaurus, and he wanted it to be bloody. Yuck! But I had fun makeing this cake and cut the T-Rex out of cake, formed it, and used buttercream and fondant. It was a BIG hit. The kids all loved it and so did the parents. The "blood" was made from strawberry jam!

10 in round butter recipe cake, covered in butter cream with picture hand drawn on. I wasn't too sure about it when I started but I think it turned out okay. It's for a little girl who's turning 5 and loves T-REX

I made this cake for my son's 6th birthday. I used a page out of his coloring book. I used the FBCT method. This is the second time I tried it. It was a little difficult but I guess it turned out ok. He like it.

This is fpr my daughters fourth birthday. She is really into dinosaurs, bugs, lizards and such.. This is all buttercream except for the fondant rocks and plastic/rubber toys. She helped me draw and design this cake and was thrilled to see it go from paper to cake! She picked the dinosaurs out of her own collection. (We washed them of course!)

I made this for my 3-year-old's birthday because he loves T-Rex! Somehow I inadvertently managed to make the cake look like a prepubescent Godzilla. For the rear view of this cake, use this link: http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1197867

I got this idea from krstik. Hers is soooo much better. Mine never seem to turn out like the pictures :) The grass reeds were supposed to be longer, which would've helped with the overall appearance, but after 2 days they still weren't dry enough to stand up.. they kept wilting, so I had to cut them down. Either way, the birthday boy Loved it.. as did his parents.

I had my doubts on how this cake would turn out, but I was happy wiht the end result. The cake is done in buttercream with fondant accents. The dinosaurs, palm tree and volcano are done in gumpaste. I hand painted the detail lines on the dinosaurs and then I airbrushed them.

Dinosaur Cookies on wands. Covered with marbled fondant and RI simple decor. These were also for the auction at DDs school. I started with the green fondant and then added purple color for the steg. Then balled it up and added some blue color and a sausage of white fondant for the bront. Then balled that up and added red color for the T-rex. I was very pleased with how they turned out and it was so easy to give them all a different look! Fondant is my new fav way to "flood" a cookie!

Fondant covered 1/2 ball for each hat with 6" underneath to lift them up a little more. This was one of my favorite cakes to do. Next time I will allow the brims to set for at least four days instead of two though...they had their flaws but I was still happy with them.

Customer sent a picture of Verina's (CC member) dinosaur for a T-Rex cake so this is her design. Head, legs and tail are rice krispies and body is Red Velvet cake (for the gross factor).
