These cakes were for a 13th birthday party. All of the cakes are carved and then filled with chocolate ganache mousse. Each cake is covered in fondant and then has some fondant decorations. The N stands for the birthday girls name (Nicole). I made the base by hot glueing cardboard together so that the cakes can stand up and used black satin to cover the cardboard.

Okay, bare with me here. I am new to mmf I really like it alot especially that it's cheap to make!! Whoever thought up this idea is just brillant! I guess it'll take some pratice for me with covered the cakes with it. I had to put the roses all over the side like this because I had a huge wreck on the side (it ripped and rippled) This was my first time making the fondant roses too. I really need some pratice. I am not even real sure If I am doing it right or not.

I found this idea from a cake on this website (thank you very much!!!) I only had a couple of days to come up with something and the bride had no idea what she wanted. I love that we get ideas from this site and can share our results!!

Here is my first try with the imparession mat. Had a little trouble at first but got the hang of it. This is a vanilla cake with vanilla BC, quilt pattern with handmade edible pearls. Tops are silk roses and real roses adorn the plate on the middle cake.

This was a very simple cake. The picture doesn't show the detail well at all (before digital cameras), but it was swirled with a star tip, buttercream dotted boarder with tiny strands of pearls.

For a friend's birthday. She requested these decorations! Peacepipe, suncatcher, turquoise border and Happy Birthday in Cherokee! The pipe and dream catcher were hand molded and carved out of white chocolate clay and pipe painted with food color to replicate authentic Cherokee ceremonial pipe. Rawhide fringes and leaves also white choc. Cake airbrushed to look like leather and then airbrushed with pearl dust fo the shine.

Practice cake. I sure learned a lot and now know what I need to do to make this correctly since the box part isn't even matched up to the stand I made. I was trying to do a ring box but it turned into a jewelry box instead. Cake stand is constructed from wood. Everything is fondant. Box painted with pearl luster dust. Pearl necklace, earrings and ring painted with pearl and gold dust. Box trim cut from a mold. Heart latch, loop and tassel were hand made and painted with gold dust too.

When my boss asked me to do a beach theme cake for his wife, it was going to be on a 1/2 sheet. I had already made the hat and sandals when he asked me to make it an anniversary cake as well. Since the anniversary theme was pearls, I was able to tie them in together. This was a really fun cake and I am happy with the way it turned out.

The bride brought me a photo of what looked like little snowball cakes iced in poured fondant. This was my version of that photo.

First of all, poured fondant is super messy and tricky!! The kitchen workstation is a MESS! But they are really easy to transport.

I used 3 edible pearls to top them off.

These cakes were made for a small gathering of women in my town known as The Pearl Ladies. They are a group of five that were born and raised in my neck of the woods and are highly praised for their history knowledge, charity events, high teas, etc. They have a quarterly meeting (each season) and meet to discuss our towns up-and-coming events. They really loved that the cakes had edible pearls resembling their own pearl necklaces and a reflection of Fall. Bottom cakes 6" and top cake 3" covered in MMF.

Here is my take on the christening gown cake that I've seen others do beautifully! This cake was for a co-workers baby girl's christening. White chocolate cake with raspberry preserve filling, covered in BC. Used diamond impression mat with edible pearls. Dress is made from fondant. Edible pearls on details as well.

I made my first fancy cake for a 50th birthday. It was inspired by one of Colette Peter's cakes. Of course, hers was much better. The roses are gumpaste. The swags and outlines are royal icing. The rest is fondant. I used some pearl dust and gold dust for the jewelry look. Oh, I also made a gold 50 out of gumpaste to stick in the top but the cake wouldn't fit in the box with it on it so no pic.

This was for my nephew's future in-laws. The cake is WASC with chocolate mousse filling and almond buttercream icing. The pearls are handmade from fondant as are all the decorations on the cake. First attempt at a monogram-gotta try that again.

Edible pearls are on this cake. This is just the top portion but gives the best detail.

Fleur di lis, stringwork and pearls (but not the edible kind...didn't know about those when I did this cake) The color of the cake was actually a very light pink color.

White fondant over fruitcake, baked by the bride (the first wedding cake she'd ever done). Decorated with fondant bluebirds and lab (her dog), custom-made ploymer clay topper (looks just like the wedding couple, down to clothes and hairstyles!). Non-edible pearls. I gotta use something nicer than al foil next time. ;p
