Cake I just finished for a 70th BD. No name on the cake yet, want to make sure I get it right so I'll finish on site. The cake is vanilla with buttercream frosting. The Navy insignia is a combo of fondant and BC. The flag is fondant (rather easy to do--I was surprised).

FBCT on top and emblems on sheet! The emblem was designed by one of the dental techs in my husband's shop. So I was pretty happy when this turned out!

White cake, raspberry filled. Iced in buttercream with FBCT! Gold dusted pearls on trim. My husband outlined the transfers and I filled them in. I think he did a fabulous job!! If he hadn't helped, I'd still be working on this cake!

This is one of three cakes I am making for my hubby's goodbye party at work. This is his current command patch. There are things that need improving but I am overall happy with it. It is the first time I have ever torted a cake, piped a border, and done a "real' FBCT.

this is cake #2 of 3 for hubbys goodbye party. This is the patch of his new command. Again, things to improve on, but I am pleased with it over all. Now it is time to go start the 3-D submarine cake.

This is the third and final cake in the series of cakes I made for my hubbies goodbye party. Overall I would say I did pretty well considering they were only the 3rd, 4th, and 5th decorated cakes I have ever made. The cake itself is a white cake with bavarian cream filling and buttercream frosting. The sub is covered in chocolate mmf (MMMM soo tasty) and painted with black food coloring, everything else is buttercream.

Not happy with how this cake turned out. So many mistakes! They probably won't even notice so it'll do.

Marble cake with milk chocolate ganache! Don't much like doing these boring cakes but that's what the secretary of the Naval Hospital wants!!

My Navy friend stationed in Afghanistan requested a "cat in a sailor suit" cake for his girlfriend (who lives near me). I used my HUGGABLE TEDDY BEAR pan and did a little re-decorating to accommodate his request.

First stacked/carved cake. Done for my BIL's birthday. Took HOURS! and I'm just holding my breath that it doesn't fall apart before the party today! The legs are 2 stacked 6 inch cakes. The body is wondermold cake. The head is the sports ball cake. All iced in BC and covered with MMF. I hate the way the head came out. Can someone please tell me how to cover a sports ball cake with fondant and keep it smooth! Hat made with gumpaste.

Made this one for a girl who runs on the track team my hubby coaches. I am not crazy about the colors but they are the school colors. I hope she likes it!! It is 2 10 inch rounds stacked with buttercream filling and the outside is BC as well as the flowers!!

I much prefer the edible images on my military cakes now that I have the equipment. Many" thank yous" to all who helped me with my decision to get one and a special thanks to Lisa for answering my crazy questions!!

I had issues with this cake from the get go. Baking and filling was fine but smoothing, and the edible images!!! AARRRGH!!!! I had no choice but to add cornelli on the top as I didn't like the strips of edible paper showing their edges on the writing. I'm still not satisfied! We all have one of those cakes don't we?

The cake is actually two cakes, because I just don't have an oven THAT big!! Anyway, half marble cake with milk chocolate ganache and half cinnamon buttermilk chocolate cake with milk chocolate ganache and all Crisco icing because this cake is for an outdoor event!! Couldn't avoid the cracks in the icing because of how heavy the cake is. That's the only part about this cake that I don't like!!!

A cake I made for my cousin's birthday. It was a lot of fun -- chocolate cake with buttercream icing, fondant accents, and some ribbon to add a bit more dimension. :) Thanks for looking! GBY

Her mom said that Navy and Silver were her favorite colors. Once I got it all together with the stars and everything it looked a lot like a Dallas Cowboy cake. Anyway, chocolate cake with white chocolate icing and MMF stars and little "18"s. Royal Icing big "18"

I made this cake for a lady who retired from work. Her first name begins with a "J," hence the "J" on the top. Each tier had three layers of cake (top and bottom was white, middle was navy). The cake was frosted with butter cream and covered with fondant. The scroll work was butter cream and I tied a navy ribbon on the bottom of each tier. I am still working on getting a steady hand :)

This cake was baked and decorated all in one day! That's a feat because I had another cake to do yesterday as well. The edible images were tough to do because they weren't sent to me in the right format!!!!! Converting them is what took the most time.

I made this for a lady who's one son just graduated from the University of Tennessee....and her other son is joining the Navy SEAL's. The Navy side is chocolate cake and the Tennessee side is white cake. It's 2 11X15's side by side. All buttercream icing (logos are FBCT's).

BTW....I know, I screwed up....The Navy SEAL's FBCT is supposed to go the other way (eagle facing left). Oops! :0)

This cake was done at the request of the wife not the hospital like usual. I had fun doing this one. The pictures are of him as an enlisted E-3 and then in the picture as a Lieutenant. The cakes are covered in fondant. Thank you to those few that helped me with my questions about the images vs. fondant!

The cake needed something, like I said on my first upload it was bland. Something bothered me about the red so I had to balance it out! The scrolls helped a bit I think!

sorry it is hard to see, but this is the only photo i have of it. I made this for my hubby's command picnic. People were afraid to eat the sub because they thought it wasn't cake. Someone finally asked me if they can eat the sub. I thought that was pretty funny. the submarine is made out of chocolate mmf
