Full sheet 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 yellow with BC icing and chocolate covered strawberries. Wanted something a little more formal for a nightime couples shower/cocktail party. I drizzled chocolate around the middle and put their monogram and wedding date in the oval. I wasn't given a lot of direction other than put on the monogram and the strawberries, so this is what I came up with. Thanks for looking.

This is an 8" white cake w/ strawberry flavored BC and magenta MMF to cover. All the decorations were done in fondant including the "J". That was wilton fondant cut out using a pattern and then left to dry for several days. I painted it in Nu Silver luster and superglued real crystals on to it. The buckle also had real crystals on it.
All I had to go off of was that the daughter liked pink and "bling" and that she was turning 25. So I thought this embodied that well with an element of sophistication.

This was my first attempt at doing a tiered "wedding style" cake. Everything went really well EXCEPT 3 hours before delivery there was a frosting disaster so I had to run to the store, come back and start making Italian Meringue Buttercream! I was a little upset that I didn't have any time to smooth the cake or put any borders on. So other than that I'm pretty satisfied. The topper is a wood "D" and silk flowers (there was also a gumpaste disaster and had to improvise with silk ones. )

This was my first time doing stringwork. I was pretty happy with that but still hate cornelli lace and I wasn't too happy with the scallops under it. Also my first try at satin stitch. It will be awhile to get to Toba's level;)

This cake is inspired by Gociva (brown and pink) and another I can not find right now. This was a quick cake. NExt tiem I think I will allow the plaque with the L on it to dry longer because I think it looks saggy.

The top tier was vanilla cake dyed green (as a joke for the groom a year from now) & covered in chocolate buttercream w/off-white dots. The middle tier was italian cream & the bottom tier was yellow cake - both covered with off-white buttercream & chocolate dots. The base is covered in a chocolate colored satin-like fabric. The sage green colored scrolls, heart and monogram were handmade using gumpaste & floral wire.

Red monogram with white-on-white design and script date at the bottom. White didn't show well in picture. Bagged & tied with ribbon, used as table favors. NFSC recipe & RI with corn syrup added to give more gloss.

Buttercream with fondant bow. I used an overhead projector to shine the monogram on the side of the cake and traced it with chocolate icing.

My first "real" wedding cake order. 16", 12", and 8" rounds. White cake, strawberry filling, and off-white buttercream icing. Real roses. Monogram on front of cake.
That second layer dealt problems and I am not truly happy with this cake but the bride and her mother liked it and everyone said it was absolutely delicious (I attended the wedding as well).

Closeup of one of the monogram cupcakes for a retirement party. The honoree loved that we put his first initial on the cupcakes, a nice subtle and sophisticated tribute!

These were the favors at my sister's bridal shower. They were a big hit....I wish I had had the NFSC recipe then though because I had to cut them twice to make them the right shape! :)

These are chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting and melted chocolate monograms on the tops. (There were also yellow cake with chocolate frosting) I also hand-tied 150 grosgrain ribbon bows and hot glued them to the cupcake wrappers. Very fun to do, and the bride & groom loved them!
