I admit this was her b-day cake, but it seems to fit the theme.
There's a story about the buttons - mom is a master seamstress and when I was a kid she could not stand to let me wear anything 'store bought' without at least changing the buttons. That's been a life theme for us - if nothing else works, at least try changing the buttons!

This was a yellow 2 layer stacked construction cake decorated with buttercream frosting. My first time doing any construction with a cake. It was done for a birthday not as a mother's day cake.

This was for Valentines day for my mom that I took to her work, but I figured it could easily be a mother's day cake. Yellow cake, butterscotch filling, covered in BC with BC roses (my second attempt, so I know they're far from perfect still!)

My first cookie bouquets. I'm actually very pleased with them!
No fail sugar cookies, some iced with Toba's glace & some with plain old royal icing.
I can't wait to give them to all the Moms coming to my house tomorrow for supper!

This is my first tier cake, chocolate, white, and yellow cake with bc frosting, and then covered with mmf. I tried to create a cake of what moms are, however found that there was not enough space to put all that moms are or do. It was alot of fun to make though. My daughter took this cake to school for the teachers. I was mostly inspired at the idea of the prize being a donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, as I have a friend in Chemo as speak. Thanks and God Bless!!!

First cake for my mom for Mother's Day. It is a three layer 8" chocolate cake with Pettinice flowers, buds, leaves, bow, ribbon, rope trim, tag and string. Everything is edible except the floral tape and wire for the flower spray. The picture is at an angle so you can't see it's actual height which was 6 inches tall.

This is my first time using fondant. I made a traditional white cake with a thick frosting filling. ON THe outside I spread homemade buttercream and used food coloring to create the different colors of fondant for the "wrapping", bow, ribbons and tag. I used writing icing to create the swirls and "happy birthday" and finally i surrounded the bottom of the cake with left over buttercream but added pink for color and strawberry flavoring. This was for mom's birthday..HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

I got the idea for this cake on this site . . . of course! The top layer is chocolate with strawberry filling and the bottom is white with strawberry filling. The topper is a no-fail sugar cookie cut by hand and decorated in royal icing to match the Mod Mom party ware.

This is a French Vanilla White Chocolate Cake with a family recipe (not sure what it's called) icing similar to buttercream, but it doesn't crust. I made this for my mom's birthday. She doesn't like the crusting BC, so I tried this icing for the first time. It worked out pretty well, but since it doesn't crust, I couldn't smooth it. I tried this "spoon effect" instead. I covered the entire cake in super pearl luster dust.

Bottom is a 10" 4 layer vanilla cake with strawberry filling and the top is an 8" of the same kind. Both are iced in buttercream. I whipped the icing too long and got air but the customer was extremely pleased. This goes with the Mod Mom theme.

This is for a baby shower tomorrow evening. They wanted the cake to match the invitation and read Happy "Birth"day Laura (mom to be). I outlined the woman in edible marker free hand then filled in with petal dusts. Trees and sky and doggie also all in petal dusts to replicate the "chalk" affect on the invite. The cake is a classic yellow cake I wanted to try, filled with lemon Italian meringue buttercream. Covered in fondant. I'm uploading the close ups of the invite woman and the one I painted. Enjoy!!

Customer requested a cake to match her theme. This was what I came up with and was pretty pleased with it until I went to put it in the box and the base board gave way. The cake literally broke in half! Sigh... started all over. Glad I got a picture of it before it broke! Second one didn't turn out as good as the first (probably because it was 3am!!
