Okay, this is the finished pic. I didn't like it. But I got rave reviews from the birthday girl and all of the guests. The MMF worked fabulously! So I am happy about that. Thanks for everyone's help.

I made this for my daughter's 1st birthday yesterday. This is the first time I have ever made my own icing much less decorate the whole cake!...so while it is not perfect, I am really proud of it!! The top layer was carrot which we removed for her to play in. The bottom was chocolate and very yummy! All the icing is buttercream and the daisies, banner and #1 are MMF.

This cake was made for a double shower at the school where I worked. I used for the first time MMF and I am in love with it. It is easy and cheap to make, it has a great look and it is easy to use. Try it, you will be amazed!

I think this was my first MMF fondant cake. I was also practicing the tiering - pillars and stacking. Was happy with this one for a first try. Had trouble making the fondant rope. Flowers are royal icing.

The crane is origami made from a square piece of very thin MMF. Very pleased this worked!! Gold luster dust adorns the crane and top of the cake. I spilled some and had to make it look intentional. :)

This is my first attempt at a stacked cake, MMF, and a MMF bow. Bottom teir is to tall! Live and learn. Need more practice on covering the cake smoothly. How do you all do it I had a hard time just dealing with all that fondant and getting it on the cake!

I made this cake for all of the people helping my parents move into their new house. Top cake is double choc chunk with rasberry filling. Bottom cake is also double choc chunk but with vanilla filling. Both cakes are covered with BC icing and this is my first attempt at MMF roses.

This was my first MMF wedding cake. It was regular white cake, with a crumb coat of buttercream that was flavored with butavan then the MMF. It was a really simple cake in design. I was shocked at the cake topper the bride chose. It wouldn't have been my choice! lol

I made this for a co-worker who was leaving the company. He's known for always wearing our logo hat around. Cake is one layer chocolate, one white with BC and strawberry filling. MMF used on top.

I'm very sad the photos came out so blurry, but I added it so I can feel better, this was a lot of work.
Enhanced boxed white cake, buttercream, and the rest is MMF: Statue of Liberty, American Soldier and Uncle Sam.

bananacake filled with banana pudding and fresh sliced bananans (recipes from CMD-Book). It's the first time that I tried out MMF, so I just experimented with cookiecutters, drapes, painting, gel, etc... . My FIL is a VERY proud texan, who lives in the rio grande valley. maybe now you will see where I was going with my fantasie design ;-)

Many many thanks and props to Sarahscakes for the inspiration and help with this cake. It is a copy of her's (well actually it is not even in the same ballpark but it is as good as I could) It was a practice "dry run" to see if I could pull it off. I did it all in one day and won't try that for the actual event. UGGH.
Choc. cake covered in MMF ,with MMF lace and gumpaste hood.
Next one won't be as tall and the lace will be smaller and more delicate.
Any other ideas on improvement are welcome

For a baby shower after the little girl was born. The pink is made from mmf using an impression mat. It was fun. Should have made the mmf a little thinner I think

This was for a baby shower with a book theme. I wasn't very happy with my lettering. The person who ordered it showed up early and was watching me finish! PRESSURE!

First time I have ever covered a cake in Fondant. The MMF was not that hard to make but for me the biggest challenge is getting from the counter to the cake! I will definitely use this recipe again as it taste better than Wilton and a lot cheaper!

Here is another shot of the cake, a more closeup view (unfortunately, it shows one of the few places where my cornelli lace wasn't *quite* perfect!). Had fun with this cake!

This was the MOST fun to make ... it was the durable cake recipe for all 3 layers. Bottom was choco fudge, middle was white choc w/raspberry filling, top was lemon. All done in buttercream (1/2 butter 1/2 Crisco) with MMF. Roses on top were mmf/gumpaste mixture. It didn't turn out *exactly* like I had hoped ... but overall I am pleased! Forgot the right tip for the border, so it is a little too foofy for my taste, but it had to do. WOO HOO! I did it!!!

I made this MMF covered cake for a friend returning to Anodover-Newton Seminary. She drove from Cleveland to Boston, hence the map, road, & construction barrels. The cake is lemon with raspberry mousse filling. The coffee cup is sculpted cake and everything else is MMF or covered in it.

I got this idea from Godiva (although hers is a million times better!). This was my first attempt at MMF. I used faux fondant to cover the cake, then cut out black splotches from MMF. The cow is MMF. I had a lot of trouble with the black color bleeding. I also had problems with the MMF sagging and then when it dried it cracked.

I'm making a bridal shower cake next month and I wanted to practice with MMF *before* the weekend of the event (imagine that!), so I threw this together last week just to see what it's like to work with MMF. Of course since I chose to practice with a baby shower theme (and took the cake to work so that I wouldn't eat it), and one of my coworkers is having a baby shower in two weeks, guess who just got asked to make a cake for the shower? ;-)

This little bugs are not done yet (need eye lashes and the little bugs need their legs) but I will be doing them later. They are for my daughters 2nd b-day next month. Their are made of Marshmallow Fondant. Time consuming but lots of fun to see the end result.

This was my first attempt at MMF roses. I bought the Wilton rose kit and it was super easy. I could not for the life of me make royal icing roses, so this was a great alternative for me!

This was my first try with MMF and I loved it. My only question is.........how do you get all the cornstarch off? Mine still wanted to show - should I have spritzed it with a light mist of water? Tips, please!!!

This was my first attempt at covering a cake with MMF (or any type of fondant for that matter). It was much easier than I expected, but I wish I could get it a bit smoother.
